Fresh off a walkoff win behind the power bat of Mark Vientos, the Mets host the ascendant Chicago Cubs, sitting a half game out of first place in the National League Central, and two and a half games in front of the Mets in the league-wide standings. New York sends Luis Severino to the mound, and he's been good of late, but the Cubs think they've got something good going also, countering with Jameson Taillon (coincidentally also the name of Bob Murphy's usual order at Kelly's Pub), who has won both of the games he's started this year.
CD longboxes for everybody!

Scoring more than 10 runs in this series (seven in regulation innings) would be a nice idea.
Mets out-hit [23 to 19] and out-HR'd [3 - 2] the Cards yet were a strike away from getting swept.
Not hitting .118 (4/34) w/RiSP might be an effective way to change that.

Would be nice to see them win consecutive games, they have not done so since the Fri/Sat games in Los Angeles, ten days ago.

So if Vientos has a big game tonight and Marte comes off the bereavement list tomorrow, does Vientos still get sent down? If not, who goes? Stewart would get my vote.

No way a hot Vientos gets farmed out. At worst, he'd be sent down for a few days while they shop somebody.
But it would be a good problem to have.

Yan Gomes is about as bad offensively as Tomas Nido.

Looks like he started on Saturday, but was replaced halfway through the game so I didn't realize it.
Prior to that it was Tuesday, the middle game in San Fran which makes it four out of the last five
starting assignments for Nido.
Poor Narvaez. You sign as a starter but get relegated to backup by a fast rising youngster. But then,
when that youngster gets shelved by a long-ish term injury, he still doesn't start in favor of the
second backup who couldn't make the team over you.

I don't know about you, but I think Luis Severino deserves a little more support here.
