IGT 5/29/2024: LAD@NYM — Hip New Pitcher

4:10 for a change-your-luck special. Starting pitcher David Peterson had hip surgery, which presumably means he now knows where all the “in” places are. James Paxton will mostly blank the Mets (unless luck changes).
Hope for the best. Expect the Mets.

They've lost the first two games of the series. So by law, they are allowed to win the third one.

Both teams load their lineups with righties to opposed lefty starters. The Mets have a new cleanup hitter, while the Dodgers move Mookie Betts to the other side of second.

Josh Walker sent down for Peterson’s return. He sits next to yesterday’s 27th Man Dedniel Nuñez on the plane to Triple-A.
Hope for the best. Expect the Mets.

Because the surgery fixed his "hipness".

For those that wanted Baty and Vientos to play together daily it appears that time may have come

I must've missed that BatyBoom.

Smith is really impressive. You can see him drumming his fingers on the bat handle as the pitcher winds and releases, before gripping it more tightly as the pitch approaches. That's a lot of cool.

I suppose being forced out at second base can look a lot like a home run.

Last 19 innings (since Lindor's 3rd inning HR in Game 1): no runs, 8 hits, all singles

I'm not sure, but I think Tomás Nido just got forced out at second base.

J.D. was safe, but I'm glad the Dodgers are challenging, as it'll give him a chance to get his wind back.

Well, we got there in the end, but I'm not sure it was exactly textbook.

Well, the throw was decent, it was correctly cut off, they ran at the runner who was in no man's land, and then, when the more
important runner strayed, they threw behind him and got him. Lacked some style points maybe but otherwise sound and needed
just two infield throws to pull it off.
