IGT 6/14 Pursue the Pennant! Mets v Pads Manaea be good

Post by ashie62 » Fri Jun 14, 2024 5:05 pm

Pursue the Pennant was a very good dice baseball game brought by the fine people at Negamco

I am unduly nervous that Manaea might rocked

Anyway win win win!!

Baseball must really be in bad shape if a team like the Mets is just 3 games out of a wild card right now.

You should start a thread on how 40% of the teams make the playoffs.
That topic just doesn't get hammered home as much as it should.

Ah, I'm too slow with my stupid graphic lineup table.

Check out Luis Arráez. The Pads strange policy of hording as many star middle-infielders as possible — acquiring a new one every offseason and another new one ever mid-season — has put them in the weird position of deploying Luis at first base, like he's Rod Carew or Pete Rose or somebody.

On the Mets' side, Poor Brandon Nimmo is playing Mike Kekich to Francisco Lindor's Fritz Peterson. They swapped lineup spots, but it only worked out for Lindor, and now poor Nimmo has no future batting third but can't go back home to the leadoff spot.

Did you know that 40% of major league teams make the playoffs now?

(Just hammering that home, per request).

As mentioned briefly during last night's telecast, this Matt Waldron guy is a (part-time) Knuckleballer!!!.

While we're waiting, I just checked the minor league box scores.
The Florida Coast League (short season A ball) Mets team has two players, named Zitella (3B) and Zayas (DH), in the lineup tonight.
Has any Mets team, majors or minors, ever had two players with last names starting with Z?
I can't remember one.

According to bbrdotcom, there have only been 104 MLB players
with Z-Names...

Don Zimmer (1954-1965)
Pat Zachry (1976-1985)
Todd Zeile (1989-2004)

I didn't study it, but these are the only Mets that jumped out...

So, it could have been Zeile and Zambrano in 2004.
Thanks

That's right. It doesn't get hammered home enough. Because others keep on writing posts as if only four out of the 30 teams make the playoffs, as if it's still 1971.
