NAME: Francisco Lindor
AGE: 28
POSITION: Shortstop
NUMBER: 12
NICKNAME: Mister Smile
fWAR IN 2021: 2.7
ZIPS PROJECTION FOR 2022: 4.7

Hi, I'm the big acquisition of 2021 wondering why everybody seems to be ga-ga over Max Scherzer and Starling Marte in 2022. But you know ... maybe that's better for me.

i got off to a pretty horrible start last year, and never fully recovered from it, but along the way, I showed leadership initiative, defensive acumen, good contact skills, pull power, middling bat speed, mixed plate judgment, old lady hair colors, and apparently the occasional willingness to fight a teammate.

Maybe I was hurt. Maybe I was pressing. Maybe the Mets bought a lemon. But I don't think so, and I intend to pull a Carlos Beltran and show the Mets world in year two of my contract what they didn't see in year one.

But maybe you've somehow seen 2022 play out in your head already. How does it go down for me?

He's been declining the last few years, but he'll turn it around a bit.

25 HR, 80 RBI, .280

I'm with this. I think he's a little more comfortable, won't get into raccoon debates and will do better. I think the RBI totals are a little better if Nimmo stays healthy!

.270/.330/.480, with 25 HR and 85 RBI. He'll be pretty good.

I'm real bullish on Lindor in '22. He got the year 1 "Beltran" season out of the way, had a torrid last couple months last year, a hot spring so far this year, and is a ripe 28 years old. I think he goes .285/.350./.500, gets back over 30 homers (35!) and with second base magically a foot closer to first and third, he'll be back over 20 steals, too (25!). Top 10 MVP guy. Smiles all around.

I've been thinking (or maybe just hoping) the same thing. 2022 is to Lindor as 2006 is to Beltran.

I'm expecting a lot of offense in 2022 and Lindor to be a big part of it.
Nothing crazy, but crazy enough to make him #7 in the MVP voting.
