===--->>>Happy Halloween Weekend 2022 Check<<<---===

BOOO!

We have a block party going on all day today. We stopped by for a bit,
going to a different party late afternoon a few towns over and we'll go
back up there tonight. Making stuffed mushrooms to bring. I asked KB
why it seems I always get assigned the most laborious tasks and she
kinda laughed. I think the joke is on me for these pot luck affairs but I
don't mind. Ya always get invited back if you cook something good.

Looks like rain Monday night, not that we get a lot of hobgoblin action.

(my beer abstention ended promptly today at noon... cheers!!)

When the kids were little, the adults would take them door to door on the block and say "Trick or Beer".
The kids got their candy. The adults (sometimes) got a beer. And everybody got a laugh.

I saw our hosts this morning at the local shopping center and they're going
to a village 'drunk or treat' party this afternoon. So I said, "so you're basically
going to be drunk before your party starts" and she says, "yeah, pretty much."
Her husband chimed in that he'll go easy on the drinking, someone has to drive.
He's blind, but funny as all hell!

We usually get a lot of traffic. Our neighborhood is kind of a big circle and easy to walk, so we get all our kids and kids from other neighborhoods. I like to sit on the porch and hand out the candy.

Sadly this year I was late to get candy from the store and the only thing left was a big bag of Dum-Dums. Does any kid even like those?

Halloween off-the-cuff-and-whatnot stuff...

They kinda cancelled (postponed) the showers for tonight. So we'll see.
Some years we get traffic, others nada mooch...

My neighbor debuted his costume for us yesterday. A fucking TACO. How
do compete with a taco? I'll be in my road grey with traditional blue cap with
orange NY. Yes, it has the stupid orange button on top but it's all I can do...

Kicked inflation's candy-ass this year at CVS. They had a two-for one on the
bags of the good stuff a few weeks ago. Combined with a buku 'rewards' coupon
paid sofa-change on this year's haul...

we get a handful of kids each year, but mostly miss them because we're out trick-or-treating.

we're one block over form the main halloween destination in our town, so that tends to draw the kids away from our door. our evil scheme is to hit up the houses on our road, on our way to the halloween spot. much better ROI as the skipped-over houses are ready to get rid of their candy, then we hit the main festivities and get one-per-customer at each of those doors.

halloween strategery!

Hubby’s birthday today and neither of us is feeling well. Sitting around with blankets and so forth.
I have a few bags of candy here but once it’s gone it’s gone and the lights go out

Kinda hoping for rain to tell the truth. Not very nice of me.

Feel better to both Coobys.
I'm wearing a Deadpool shirt because he's a survivor.

Gosh I feel much better today. Yesterday I felt like I’d been lifting weights all day I was so achy

So anyway we put in a pot of cheesy potato soup and while it cooked I sat on the couch and hubby manned the door. He sounded like he was having the time of his life!

Started to rain around seven so we closed it down and had our soup.

Had a beer with supper then went to bed and read ghost stories and woke up all better.

No visitors last night-- I'm seeing a trend, and think this will move from being primarily a kids holiday (trick or treat) to a college-aged one (drinking and sexy outfits) in our lifetime.

Glad the Coobys are feeling better.
We got about 60 kids.

My wife had a work related conference in San Antonio so we were out of town for Halloween. We seldom get more than a handful of trick or treaters anyway.

I was pleasantly surprised that the 2 pumpkins my wife left on the front steps were still whole when we got back home. I expected to find a mess of rotted pumpkin on our front steps upon our return, but she told me I was being silly and no one was going to bother them while we were away.

With so much more at stake
Life gets mighty precious
When there's less of it to waste

Yeah in the 60s I remember being scared of pumpkin smashers, window soapers, egg and corn throwers, etc

Just older kids leaving off steam but all that seems to have faded into history

Our biggest risks to pumpkins are critters eating them. If you coat them with Vaseline jelly, the critters leave them alone.
