Not satire, but I feel like it's similar to his Kate Bush conundrum, where he thought she was a slam dunk, too. As a Gen X'er, maybe he over-inflates the influence of a band from his formative years in the eyes of other voters (which he funnily accused other voters of doing, too). I don't feel like JD/NO is a shoo-in either. BUT I will say I've seen similar in baseball HOF voting, where guys will throw their votes behind someone to try and keep them on the ballot instead of supporting someone else who, in their eyes, will definitely get in this year or the next.

Gordon Lightfoot unquestionably rawks a lot more than, say, George Michael.

Didn't "Rumble" get some kind of special induction as a classic rock song a few years back? I always thought the unstated message there was "your one-hit wonder song goes in, but it takes more than one hit for YOU to get in, Broseph." So I'm surprised to see Link Wray go in.

Last year was a minor renaissance. Inductees honored as performers included Pat Benatar (63% rock 'n' roll content), Duran Duran (47%), Eminem (3%), Eurythmics (53%), Judas Priest (92%) Dolly Parton (4%), Lionel Richie (14%, not counting The Commodores), and Carly Simon (12%).
