The Ten Commandments Thread

Post by kcmets » Thu Jun 20, 2024 9:30 am

As we all likely know, there were really fifteen but one of the tablets
broke when Moses (a bigtime Jew, btw) was descending down from
the mountain.

V - Honor your Father and Mother

(To date, this may be the only commandment that hasn't
been broken. Publicly, of course, and there's still time)

Actually ,he refuses to talk about his mother. When asked, he gives a brief reply , then changes the subject.
DT's Mommy Issues:
I’m willing to say what they can’t. I would peg President Trump’s attachment style as avoidant. Here are my three reasons:
First, Mary Trump’s major health crisis appears to have compromised her efforts—no matter how well-intentioned—to care reliably for young Donald.
Second, as previously reported in Politico Magazine, Trump has over the years said many flattering things about his mother, calling her “fantastic” and “tremendous.” He’s also described her as “very warm” and “very loving.” And yet, I find no stories or other anecdotes of early childhood that support these sentiments. In fact, friends of the Trump family who knew the Trump kids when they were young have reported they “rarely saw Mrs. Trump” and that Donald, while “in awe” of his father, was “very detached from his mother.” A characteristic of adults with avoidant attachment is the tendency to idolize one’s parents without supporting evidence.
Finally, much of the president’s behavior, both before and since he took office, is clearly consistent with attachment avoidance: His powerful sense of self-reliance and near-inability to acknowledge self-doubt; his bragging about his sexual relations; his almost complete lack of close friends; his multiple marriages; and his unstable relationships with White House staff, Cabinet members and congressional leaders of both parties.

We skipped over VI: Thou Shalt Not Kill.

He hasn't killed anyone directly, though you can argue that most of the million plus COVID deaths in the US could have been avoided but for his stupidity and incompetence. And his "shoot someone on Fifth Avenue" quote points to a belief that killing isn't inherently wrong.

But he's never actually committed murder as far as we know. So, one for seven so far.

I think any executive whose administration carries out capital punishment can be said to have directly killed. Then-President Trump, of course, broke with all precedent and aggressively accelerated federal executions during the transition period.

Beyond that, his gross malfeasance in protecting his own interest during the nation's COVID response satisfies my definitions enough to say he has killed hundreds of thousands.

People will always die from the work of federal policymakers. That's unavoidable. His actions were something else, though. Something intentional and malicious and vile.

Wasn't one of Trump's very first presidential acts to order a very reckless but attention-grabbing military operation that resulted in the very avoidable deaths of US servicemen?

Anyways, I'd bet my life that even before his presidency, his actions resulted in the deaths of people. He's a fucking sociopath, a true evil monster.

James Carvelle's take on this was that Louisiana has slashed education funding so much that half of the students won't be able to read them.

Carville has used his folksy/southern speaking style to get away with saying things that few others, and certainly no one on the opposition side, could get away with.
