I didn't watch the opening, and I specifically didn't watch Celine Dion.
She is the Hyman Roth of singers. She's been suffering from one personal thing or another for 20 years and we've supposed to have felt bad.
I haven't.

One of my long time customers is her cousin. He's a very nice person, a retired Canadian Army Medic, and she has treated him badly. So I'm not her biggest fan.

I did not see her just bits and pieces of it. Too nice of a day to be inside. Hubby watched some of it.

Not a fan of Celine either but I do feel bad that she’s ill and it’s brave for her to be there

I recorded the replay last night for KB. I'm not into the ceremony
thing but she loves them and has seen every one since forever.

Hey, there are worse things than silly.

An Olympics without a little silly would be silly!!

More silly.

What is it? Dancing, Gymnastics, Exercise?
Looks like a sport for people who weren't good enough to get a medal in each of those events.
Sort of like the medal they give out in Little League for just participating.

Rayssa Leal, who became an Internet sensation landing some jawdropping street skateboard maneuvers at eight, sometimes in her fairy princess costume, is now a 16-year-old Brazilian Olympian.

Now, already a legend:

I'd prefer a skateboarding race, like they have with snowboards in the winter Olympics. That'd be cool

I remember buying a little ribbon dancing kit for my daughter when she was little. It’s really pretty to watch.
And if nothing else I like her music

There are so many events. Years ago before corporations panicked about giving away stuff for free on the internet there you could pretty much watch a live stream of virtually any event. Random Ping Pong between two countries NBC doesn't care about? It's there. No announcers, but just like baseball and football, but sometimes that's better. I need them to explain for some of the less-common sports, like field hockey where whistles kept blowing and guys would back off the ball but I didn't actually know why, and play would continue anyway.

Ultimately field hockey was just as dull as soccer, just with sticks.

I don't think I'll be getting in Ilona Maher's way anytime soon.

Gotta hand it to this Brazilian opponent for coming back for more.

Has the misplaced Last Supper outrage waned yet or are we
still outraged? It's hard to keep track.

I watched some of the women’s rugby yesterday on the BBC which was interesting because I never saw women play rugby before. Still hoping to catch some football.

My Facebook wall is flooded with the Last Supper controversy still. I tried explaining it to a friend and she deleted the whole thread.

Maybe the French need to get behind the Paris Water Quality Accords* first before they try and manage something as big as the global climate.

There's a semi-viral challenge for all Christians to post a picture of
the real last supper (because, ya know, the painting was based on
the reall last supper) in protest of the goings on in France.

*gasp!*
