Seriously? You can define it any way you like. English is mutable.

Not sure what 'English is mutable' is supposed to mean either but we'll
take one little thing at a time I guess.

I cannot fathom going to public school in a war zone. As well, I remain grateful that I never spawned so that I don't have to apologize to my offspring that such a ludicrous situation as we have today has bloomed. I always get annoyed when someone wants to blame the Baby Boomers for our present destructive situation but Trump's a Boomer and so is Hannity. I am deeply ashamed of them and anyone who purports to defend them. You vote R or you vote for some tag-end misfit, you are part of this problem. Additionally, I cannot wrap my head around how anyone with a shred of regular education embraces this fascist in the White House. Don't tell me you are against him if you voted for him and still support the Republican Party. There is no plausible explanation for that level of pretzel logic.Lefty Specialist wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2019 8:43 pm Presidential adviser Sean Hannity has a solution: military occupation.
“I’d like to see the perimeter of every school in America surrounded, secured by retired police . . . military and I want guys to donate 15 hours,” Hannity explained.
“I think we could cover every school, every hour — add a metal detector. And I think we’re going to have better schools."
“Have one armed guard on every floor of every school, all over every mall, the perimeter and inside every hall of every mall.”

What a turd of an idea. He's dealing out third-grade shit. In prime time.

"Mutable" is defined as "liable to change." I hear mutated English every day that means little to nothing to me, such as "on fleek." If it bothers me enough, I google it and see what pops up. Now as far as "tag-end misfit," "tag end" means "the last remaining part of something" and "misfit" means "a person whose behavior or attitude sets them apart from others in an uncomfortably conspicuous way." There is no non-cursing way to describe the candidacy of Gary Johnson in 2016 than that of a "tag-end misfit." Remember his query regarding Aleppo*? Libertarian candidate Johnson was unaware of what Aleppo might be and here he was running on his own to be president of the US. Which, in my humble opinion, is why two parties, as sad as they are, are enough.
I don't know you and you don't know me so I will tell you this: I am not as smart as MFS62 is, since he tells us so in his signature, so if you don't understand stuff I say, you could google it, put it down to my being dumber than MFS62, or that I grew up in the era of Reader's Digest and a little feature they liked to call ""Toward More Picturesque Speech." I don't like to be trite, banal, cliché, or (Gawd help me) boring. If my excursion into "painting a little picture with words" failed for you, I apologize, but I will keep speaking in my own style because it suits me to do so. Once again, if I frustrate you with my ambiguity, I apologize. It is simply who I am and how I amuse myself.
* Aleppo is a city in Syria serving as its capital. Johnson admitted he absolutely should have known what Aleppo was.
Which leads me, after thinking it over a moment, to suspect a lot of people here will not have a single clue about my own signature line. Google it if you need explanation. It's there.

Re: Mass Shootings
I'm glad I attended school before shooter drills. My son wasn't so lucky. He had shooter drill from first grade on. When he was a freshman in college, some pissed-off local fired a few shots into his dorm's lounge (no one was there, fortunately). In grad school his campus was locked down 3 times in two years. And with him living in Washington DC, we worry about what nut will try to shoot up something next.
Ironically, he's now working for a consulting firm that monitors social media in Asia, Europe and the Middle East for information about violent extremism internationally. Maybe they need to look closer to home.

The answer to the question "Can people really be that stupid?" is always "Yes."

I'm embarrassed that is all in this thread but these things happen.Double Switch wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2019 11:51 pm"Mutable" is defined as "liable to change." No frustration. I didn't google 'tag-end' (a term I obviously wasn't familiar with) but
rather 'tag-end misfit' and got sniffle. Mutable, lol. I read that and was like sound
is mutable, but English?
20 years ago I started regularly hanging out with a bunch of English majors and lawyers
(nttawwt) on a 14,400 baud modem and to this day I will sometimes expose my ignorance
for their reading pleasure.
Reader's Digest *sigh* - my Mom worked there for nearly two decades and was even on the
masthead in her later years. She was unceremoniously kicked to the curb one Friday and really
should have sued the bastards while they still had cash but that wasn't her style.
Johnson; might as well fully expose myself before my peers this morning. I voted for him over
Hillary and Cheesedoodlehead out of protest. Hillary of course won New York and my vote
meant nothing but my not voting for Hillary did give some here the vapors if I recall correctly.

You were not alone in doing this.Johnson... I voted for him over Hillary and Cheesedoodlehead out of protest.
Re: Mass Shootings
I mean, Johnson is basically a less blatantly evil republican.

are truly confident that will be the case.

Yeah, I see what you mean there. We should all just concede the next election to Trump because the next Demicratic presidential candidate won't be Albert Einstein, Mother Teresa and Batman all rolled into one. You might as well just waste your vote on the Starbucks guy. Or write in Jill Stein. That fucking idiot Susan Sarandon would love that.

Re: Mass Shootings
Don't bet on it. The piece of shit already won one election for that reason. if the GOP ran Godzilla as their candidate, the stupid Dems would still be nitpicking away at their own. Meanwhile, Moscow Mitch rams 100 extremist wackaroos onto the judiciary, including two on the Supreme Court.
Re: Mass Shootings
Same.
Seems like my kids have lockdown drills often. They actually have red 5-gallon buckets in every classroom in case some kid has to use the bathroom during a lockdown. It's nuts.
At least they haven't mandated bulletproof backpacks yet.

Re: Mass Shootings
I hope you both learned that "protest" votes are ok in the primary but not for the general. Get it out of your systems while you still have a chance to vote later for the lesser of two evils. The nation did but the EC was gamed.
Voting for Johnson or Stein or any of the other "mavericks" is akin to voting for the guy at the end of the bar who drunkenly raves but does nothing. Your voting process should be contemplative as opposed to a temper tantrum that has you wasting your voice on a dud. That's called shooting off your own foot.

Yes, yes and yes. But only one of those posters wasted their vote on a third party.. The other one has a vioe political ideology and predictably, voted for the monster that occupies the White Hkuse.Double Switch wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2019 11:50 amI hope you both learned that "protest" votes are ok in the primary but not for the general. Have to agree that "Clearly the American and National league(s) are enough." Re: Mass Shootings
I disagree that not voting for Hillary in a state she won somehow
contributed to a Trump victory. This has been a sticky point here
with some but it holds no water with me at all.

Re: Mass Shootings
It didn't. But what if enough New Yorkers thought like you and all voted for someone who had zero chance of winning? I believe that you should vote as if the election is tied, you're the last voter in America that will cast a vote and that your vote will decide the election.
