Have we not all been here before? Most people through history have lived under unjust power structures. They still found a way to move forward, get married, love their children, and play baseball. No way am I letting this guy rob me of satisfaction and meaning in the few years I have left.

How will I fight back? The same way I do now — speaking the truth, calling out lies, defending the vulnerable, acting justly, lifting up the downtrodden, building communities rooted in solidarity, resisting the abuses of the powerful, finding satisfaction despite it all.

I've always lived my life in a certain specific way, and one of the things my father taught me is that you should never wish ill upon another person, lest those same wishes be applied to you. I take that to heart. There's so much anger and negative energy in the world, now more so than ever or so it seems to me, and what the world doesn't need is more people spinning more of that negativity out there.
