The owner made a player decision based on WHAT?
https://sports.yahoo.com/jets-owner-woo ... 49206.html

The player's Madden rating, naturally.

otoh, the Giants are in danger of winning.
I mean, they basically can't lose as they've got the lead, the ball, and no Indy TO's left ... but that hasn't stopped them from losing in the past.

Miami did everything it could to lose that game (including about 27 turnovers) And Still weren't out of it until the final minute or two.
I was going to post earlier about how, while it wouldn't save their sorry-ass season, knocking your division rival out of the playoffs would be a small feather in their caps.
However, Denver really took care of eliminating the 'Phins for the Jets so they don't even get credit for that!

Why are 'Hands to the Face' a penalty when blocking (for both offense and defense) but legal when running (stiff-arming)?

Because the ball carrier only has one hand to defend himself:

A Jets player was robbed at gunpoint.
https://www.nj.com/sports/2025/02/jets- ... -says.html

The robber was successful.
It must have been a defensive player, because they can't stop anybody.

This guy, who will be playing for his third NFL team since 2021, doesn't seem like a $40 million player to me. What am I missing?

https://nypost.com/2025/03/10/sports/je ... -contract/
Fields, 26, now becomes the favorite to be the Jets starting quarterback in 2025. The only other experienced quarterback on the roster is Tyrod Taylor. The Jets could look to add a quarterback in next month’s NFL Draft, but Fields would likely have a leg up on any rookie and Taylor.
I would hope so. Because if we're paying $20 for a backup quarterback, that seem slike a problem.

He had a 4-2 record as a starter last year, but got benched when veteran QB Russell Wilson came off the IL.
Resident Jets fan Evan Roberts on WFAN likes the move. He said this indicates the team will go to a running game, and Fields runs the run/pass option well.
Knocking wood.

What am I missing?
That $20mil/yr for a starting QB is on the low end of the pay scale these days, at least once one gets beyond the rookie salary cap trap.
This guy is still young and potentially good and the J-E-T-S have to get out of the cycle where they get QBs either before they're good (Darnold)
or long, long after (Rah-gers!). Fields had no one around him in Chicago and so will benefit from a solid team with good coaching ... iow he'll be good
for the team the he winds up with after the Jets.

The 2025 Super Bowl Odds are out today.

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/620082 ... ew-season/

According to the odds, the Giants are the worst team in the NFL and as expected, have the longest odds to win the Super Bowl --- (+25,000). The Jets (+15,000) are only three teams better than the Giants. Ahhh, New York football. Dont'cha just love it?
