Happy Metirish Day
Metirish,
Is this something the Irish actually celebrate, or is it totally an American thing?
Wishing happiness to all who celebrate. Be careful!

Thank you ☘️
Of course, it's our national holiday , certainly growing up it was very much a parish and church day in rural Ireland, that has changed in many cities and towns throughout Ireland , there are probably dozens of American HS/College marching bands in Dublin today

I have never insulted anyone. I simply describe them, accurately.

St. Patrick supposedly drove all the snakes out of Ireland, but it looks like they all just went to their political ranks, instead!
(I actually have no idea about Irish politics).
I remember growing up St. Patrick's Day was a novelty, but nothing that anyone really ever 'celebrated.' Only in the past 15-20 years has it become a 'minor holiday' rather than a 'novelty,' a day that people actually do...anything...for. Which basically means, like the majority of holidays, it's just another excuse for Americans to get drunk.
