Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, donated her Tesla to NPR. But not without putting a message on it first.

What would you write on yours when you get rid of it?

Already got rid of it. And I didn't write anything because Carvana wouldn't have liked it. Even removed the 'I bought this before we knew Elon was crazy' bumper sticker.
Attended my first Tesla Takedown protest today. Felt good not to drive a Swastikar.

Putting a psychotic drug addict whose political outlook was framed by apartheid in charge was not a smart idea.

This has been a weird thread.
It was started as a spinoff when Mr. Musk very strangely overpaid for Twitter and then ran it as disastrously as possible.
Little did I suspect that he would become COO of the United States and somehow perform worse.

I can't believe there's a Musk sympathy movement. Well, I mean I can. But the idea that the richest man in the world, who makes a show of firing national park rangers and whose compnies receive billions in federal grants, doesn't have to answer for it, is mindblowing.
I confronted a cybertruck on a bike ride a few weeks ago at a traffic light. It was driven by an elderly black man. It seemed too intimate to flip him off. I gave it some thought and decided I would thumbs-down all Teslas when I ride (or drive)

I did a good bit of Uber riding when my gf and I were in San Diego last summer, and some of the rides were in Teslas. I don't Uber often, but from this point forward, I'll reject any rides that would involve a Tesla.

OK, so we have some plans here — reject all Tesla rides from rideshares and taxis.
Movements begin here.

In NYC a huge percentage of Uber-Lyft's are Teslas because the city required efficient autos (also passengers like them), and drivers need new cars to be in the game. I try not to flip off Teslas with TLC plates, these poor suckers.
I make it a point not to use rideshares at all if I can--I don't order for delivery either. None of it is good for anyone

I am not an Uber/Lyft user. Can you program the app to pre-reject all Teslas?

I dunno. I do not use the app. I suspect that, if you have the option of rejecting specific vehicles as part of your request, that would send that message all Tesla drivers, and a more affirming one to non-Tesla drivers. You could do that without having to wait on three or four drivers in a row, only to dismiss each one.
But I do not know.

It tells you what kind of car it is, so you can cancel before it even arrives. I don't recall whether it gives you the vehicle type before you choose the ride or after.
Like I said above, I used Uber a bunch of times when we were in San Diego. It was cheaper than renting a car and paying to park it, and more convenient than mass transit.

I do still rent cars on personal travel trips, when it makes sense. But on work travel we always Uber/Lyft. Typically it's a lot of shuttling back and forth between airports and local hotels/restaurants.Benjamin Grimm wrote: ↑Wed Mar 19, 2025 7:32 pm It tells you what kind of car it is, so you can cancel before it even arrives. Nationwide Tesla Takedown Day tomorrow at noon. Find a showroom near you and show them the love, or lack thereof.
