Re: In Vaccine Thread 2021
That's a personal choice, and I'd prefer not to discuss it here.
And it was 12:30, actually, so TWO hours before that. Wifey and I had a free morning today, and a few late-night slots popped up when we were cruising for stuff on Easter weekend. (She had been waiting on J and J, but barely missed out a few times at a work-facilitated thing; this time, I convinced her to come along.)

Got my pfirst this morning , in and out in under an hour. Impressively efficient handling the
crowd. I was number 20 in line and was surprised I wasn't there longer.

Put Moderna #2 in the books this morning and feel fine so far. GF got Pfizer #2 yesterday and felt crappy all day today. We've been living on a rehydration drink of salt, coconut water, lemon juice, and pomegranate juice. And steak because steak tastes good.

Shot #1 of the Pfizz for Fboy. Glad he has a spring birthday. He's no worse for wear. The lines were considerably longer today, about an hour from entering the queue to getting a jab. But the NYS Fairgrounds is a big operations with thousands of folks getting a jab every day.
Re: In Vaccine Thread 2021
Well, that kind of was a beatdown. Spent the night with a teeth chattering chill, woke up (to the extent that I slept enough to wake up) with a metallic taste in my mouf.

I ache from yard work anyway so I don’t know if it affected me or not

If you were able to do yard work... you probably weren't feeling any significant side effects.
Pfizer Day 1 knocked me down for a good, long while-- it felt like a mid-sized flu, with dizziness and significant fatigue and spread-out muscle aches, but minus any congestion.

Wow! Yes I’ve been working in the yard every day, plus pretty active labor at my greenhouse job so I’ve got a lot of ‘spring aches’LWFS wrote: ↑Sat Apr 10, 2021 1:25 pm If you were able to do yard work... you probably weren't feeling any significant side effects.

Hopefully I’ll be just as lucky on the 30th

Re: In Vaccine Thread 2021
I had my first shot back in March. A couple of weeks later I had a doctor's appointment scheduled, just my regular checkup, and I called to say I had a head cold so maybe I should reschedule. They advised me to take a Covid test. I did, and I had it. And I was out of isolation in time to get my second shot a couple of days ago. No side effects to speak of, and the Covid never got worse than a not very bad cold. Maybe the first shot helped, or maybe I was just extremely lucky. The weird part is that if I hadn't had the doctor's appointment I wouldn't have gotten tested; I've had a couple of colds in the past year.
Re: In Vaccine Thread 2021
they say the first dose is pretty good at minimizing the effects of the virus. Honestly, managing to get Covid after that is probably the same as getting a second shot.

Almost 36 hours later, I've had no side epfectz from yesterday's shot.
Maybe I got the top-top-top secret placebo.

I'm sorry to hear this. Do you think the vaccine could have triggered a misleading positive?dinosaur jesus wrote: ↑Sat Apr 10, 2021 7:30 pm I had my first shot back in March. Re: In Vaccine Thread 2021
It's the second one that generally kicks your ass. I spent a good chunk of yesterday with a low grade fever, and slept through most of the game yesterday, just like the Mets' bats.
Tylenol helped with the fever, and electrolyte replacement made me feel less crummy in general. I was fine by about 8 last night.
I got Moderna, but my girlfriend was on Team Pfizer, and the effects were the same.

Re: In Vaccine Thread 2021
Update: late yesterday my nose started running and by suppertime it felt like a brick hit my nose. This morning I have a headache, clogged sinuses and very sore throat.
However, my husband had a cold so it could be that.
My head feels so bad that I don’t even notice if I have body aches. Off to take my temperature

Re: In Vaccine Thread 2021
I don't know, but I'm guessing not. I had something, whatever it was. And the symptoms weren't quite consistent with a cold. It was like something impersonating a cold but not getting it quite right. As long as I didn't make anyone else sick (the wife and kid are fine), it doesn't matter now anyway.Edgy MD wrote: ↑Sat Apr 10, 2021 11:11 pmI'm sorry to hear this. Re: In Vaccine Thread 2021
less than half of people have any real side effects, more so the second dose, and less for pfizer than the others. Mostly fatigue, some fever/chills. Stronger immune systems exhibit more symptoms than weaker ones supposedly. I think it's like a quick rollout of defense flares up the side effects, but a slower roll you don't notice.

Re: In Vaccine Thread 2021
I have no idea the status of my immune system. Generally speaking, I'm cold blooded and rarely
get sick so I figured no side effects was me being me. I haven't had the flu since Doc had a giant
billboardesque mural in Midtown Manhattan on the side of a building.
I've probably jinxed myself and will pay come 4/30... feel better everyone, things are getting better.
