My mom-in-law also was a Depression-era Iowa baby. Also became an executive assistant in Education. Also was somebody I called Mom right off.

Deep condolences.

My condolences too. Not everyone ends up with a good mother-in-law, so you were lucky to have had her. (I had a good mother-in-law too, by the way. She's still alive, but no longer my mother-in-law.)

Was actually born in England to German-Jewish parents who had fled Germany for all the obvious reasons. Came over to this country just a few years later so Jerry essentially grew up as an American.
Was at one point Mayor of Cincinnati which must have been ... interesting?

Marshmallow I’m sorry for your loss. She sounds like a special woman and you are very lucky to have had her as a mother in law. It’s not an easy job to be a MIL and if you made a bond with her then she must have known the right ways to make you welcome to the family.

I've been away on a family vacation. I'm just getting caught up with happenings of the past week. Sorry to hear of your mother in laws passing, MGIM. That was a beautiful tribute you wrote in her memory. Sounds like a wonderful woman. Belated condolences to you and your family.

Thank you so much. The kindness from the Pool and my colleagues has been comforting. It's been a tough couple of weeks. We're sorting through all the post-funeral things now, and that's been difficult.

Doyle Brunson passed today at 89.

I remember reading his book and thinking "this is easy"... It's not that easy.
