So, I've played 396 times.
1: 1 0.02%
2: 23 0.58%
3: 102 25.8%
4: 169 (including today) 42.67%
5: 76 19.1%
6: 22 0.56%
miss: 3 0.07%
So I have 126 under 4 and 101 over 4.

So your one Ace counts as 3 under parcal sharpie wrote: ↑Tue Feb 21, 2023 9:35 am So, I've played 396 times.

6: 22 0.56%

So I have 126 under 4 and 101 over 4.
Add that to the 23 twos [23 × 2 = 46] and 102 threes gives you -151
On the over par side you've racked up 76 + (2 × 22) + (3 × 3) for a +127
It all makes you 24 under par thru nearly 22 rounds of golf. You wouldn't make a ton of cash on the tour with those scores but you'd be plugging along.

Thanks for the math, Frayed. Working on my putting.

I have been getting lucky a lot lately. Either that or switching to the hard mode made me better. Streak back to 19.

I think the par stat is pretty great - especially over the last 18. I don't think Wordle keeps historical stats, but I'm thinking of tracking by hand. Much more meaningful than streaks.

Yeah, seconded on the golf scoring - though I probably bogey more holes than I'd prefer (75 out of 388 or nearly 20% of my plays).

(2x19) + 101 - 75 - (2x34) = 139 - 143Fman99 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 21, 2023 10:05 pm Yeah, seconded on the golf scoring - though I probably bogey more holes than I'd prefer (75 out of 388 or nearly 20% of my plays).

So that's 4 over par through 6+ rounds despite the sub-4.0 average, mainly on account of your sixes outnumbering your twos.

My streak continues as well and like Edgy thanks to a double bogey. But I will take it.

ooh... golf-scoring. today's double-bogey gives me the following:
1: 0 (0.00%)
2: 1 (2.56%)
3: 11 (28.2%)
4: 15 (38.5%)
5: 8 (20.5%)
6: 3 (7.69%)
97% of 39 games, so 1(?) miss | 34 game streak
(2x1) + 11 - 8 - (2x3) = 13 - 14
1 over par, on holes made. 4 over, if i call a miss a 3-over.

How are youse accounting for your "losses" or stumped games? Looks to me like youse are giving average scores for your successful games only. Nice. The golf analogy would be to not count the holes where everything goes bad and you shoot like a 10 or a 15.

i considered my miss to be a 3-over-par, or a 7.
it might be fair to consider it an 8, to give more of a penalty for the whiff.

Yeah, the scoring system I proposed treats a miss as a triple bogey 7. I suppose one could augment that into 8's, 9's, or 10's based on how many incorrect slots you still have after your alloted guesses are up.

The Times sent out a notice that today's Wordle was a "streak killer," with about 25% of players missing it, compared to 1–2% on an average day.

The interesting take there is that the daily average success rate is about 98 or 99%. Makes sense to me. The level of difficulty for Wordle, I think, is extremely low. Wordle is a really simple puzzle.

Yes, Wordle is an easy game. I don't consider the main point as simply solving the puzzle. They should do away with streaks and score based on average guesses or time.
I play the Mini Crossword each day, too. I always solve it, but my goals is to solve it in under a minute.

After today's three, my score on my last 18 holes is an even-par 72.
That's a dropoff from the 68 I was sitting at over the weekend, but my streaky thing is up to 59, and I'm four away from reaching 97.5% and rounding up a deceptive bump from 97% to 98% in the statistics display.
