Lots of stuff about him in this new book about the Stone Pony.

I blame Susan Collins

I have never insulted anyone. I simply describe them, accurately.

He wrote the foreword and you figure. I've only been out front of the Stone Pony, never inside. Looks like its mainly for those who were a part of that scene in the 70s or Springsteen historians.

36: Today's shot of Bruce Juice is "Last to Die" from MAGIC. Not familiar with this one but the first thing I noticed was how the gee-tar sounds like REM's "Texarkana."
--"a frantic, agitated, full-on rock performance," according to our reviewer, who rates this 75/340
To me this sounds a lot like late-period Bruce

37: Interesting Bruce song today, "Trouble in Paradise" from TRACKS. What Bruce might sound like in a late 70s yacht-rock band -- Hollywood sessionmen Jeff Pocaro & Randy Jackson accompany him. Roy Bittan wrote the music, and Bruce the lyrics. Bruce makes it a Bruce song, just a weird-ass one. Ranked 319/340

38. Today the Big Wheel hits at 219 and "I'll Work for Your Love" from MAGIC. This is another pop-flavored cut from that album loaded with religious imagery and a verse that sounds like a Dylan song I can't place. The reviewer sees this an an anthem to the live fans, or a reminder from Bruce that other rock acts are lazy-ass mthrfckrs.

40. Here's a song you probably haven't heard before but could have been a hit for someone: the bouncy "Lion's Den," from TRACKS, ranked 131/340 on our tour of the Bruce catalog.

41. Head into your weekend with another rollicking Springsteen obscurity, "Santa Ana" from TRACKS. Sounds to me an awful lot like something off WILD & INNOCENT, what with him romancing some Senorita (evidently dating back that far).

Ka-Pow! The Magic Wheel lands on #80 and we get Brash Young Bruce and David Sancious on "It's Hard to Be A Saint in the City" from GREETINGS.

I lived with a Springsteen freak Freshman year who had used: it's so hard to be a saint when you're just a boy out on the street

43. Today we get rock-n-soul number "So Young and in Love" from TRACKS which as you might imagine has become a frequent show-opener. This dates to 1974 and has a big WILD & INNOCENT feel. Ranked 103/340

I don't know about those snaps and studs on Springsteen's black leather. He is practically Amish when it comes to extra sartorial flair, especially before the bolo tie era.

45. Today we get sexy Bruce singin' 'bout makin' whoopie with "Burnin' Train" from his most recent release, LETTER TO YOU (2020). This song dates to the early 1990s and was fixed up for the record. Sounds like a train, dunnit? Ranked 181/340

46. Today the wheel lands on #57 and "The Ties That Bind," the lead track and one of my personal faves from THE RIVER, about one of those chicks who's afraid to commit. Has Bruce ever been janglier?

Definitely Bruce's best Tom Petty song.

47. Bruce with a tribute to the all-time hit king, "Outlaw Pete," from WORKING ON A DREAM Reviewer ranks it 305/340, denouncing its "pedestrian music" and "unconvincing story." There's also a melody that sounds like Kiss' "I was Made for Lovin' You." If that's not all enough it's also eight minutes long.

The big wheel in the meantime landed on #207 and the unusual "57 Channels (and Nothin' On)" from HUMAN TOUCH. Trancy feel, big bass, sound effects but a kinda funny song at the same time. 57 channels ain't nothin' today.
I didn't know there was an official video.

Re: Springsteen
"57 Channels" had a big launch and a disappointing landing (peaking at #68) as a single when it was released in 1992, but found new life that summer as a remix, incorporating sounds of street unrest shortly after the Rodney King riots had peaked.
