President Caligula repeals and reverses a Biden policy and promises to ship 2,000 pound bombs to Israel to assist it in its war against Gaza.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles ... den-s-halt

So maybe it wasn't enough for you stupid, jackass Michiganers to figuratively gouge out your own eyeballs by not voting for Kamala; I guess youse had to amputate your own arms, too. How's that non-Kamala vote working out, jackasses? And don't forget to go and ask your other jackass Michigan neighbors, the ones waiting for President Caligula to bring back the $70/hour factory jobs they had under Obama if they got those jobs back yet.
Gee golly if only Kamala was more liberal I wouldn’t’ve stayed home. But gosh and golly again, all politicians are the same right? What’s the difference anyways?

President Caligula signs Executive Order to deport Pro-Palestine students who protested Israel's destruction and annihilation of Gaza and innocent civilians.

https://www.commondreams.org/news/trump ... r-protests

Haha. Karma's a bitch, ain't it, you stupid fucking Michigan non Kamalalalalala voters. Youse still haven't figured it out yet that if President Caligula totally had his way, he'd --as he would put it, not me, --- ship your brown-skinned asses back to your shithole countries? Because that's what he thinks youse are: loathsome brownskins from shithole countries. Unless you're that guy with the bone saw who can secretly funnel billions of dollars to him and his scumbag family of crooks. President Caligula likes that guy.

So go ahead and don't vote for Kamalalala. Oh wait. Youse already did that. Not vote for Kamalalalala. See how better off youse are? Wait'll his goon squad starts rounding youse up to ship you back to Mexico in handcuffs on a military plane. Even if youse aren't Mexicans. Like President Caligula gives a flying fuck.
Another day. Another Presidential action designed to hurt innocent Gazans.

President Caligula considers rescinding Biden policy and sending $34M worth of assault rifles to Israel, where they will surely be used against innocent Gazans..

https://www.nytimes.com/2025/01/31/us/p ... ifles.html

Haha. You stupid Michiganers who didn't vote for Kama-lala-lalala. Instead youse voted for the racist President who loathes youse because your skin is brown and your god isn't the white-skinned Jesus Christ that the President's voters worship, but the Allah-lala-lalala god. How's that working out? Maybe youse can sing Deck the Halls of Holly, Falala lala lala lala to your Allah lala lalala god praying that maybe Allah-lala-lalala will use his magic God powers to put Kamala-lala-lala in the White House. Let's see how powerful your Allah-lala-lalala god is while your Gazans get slaughtered thanks to the madman in the White House that youse voted for. Don't you realize that youse are just low life riff-raff to the President and he wants you out of the Gaza so that he could build a hotel with casinos on your Gaza land. Fala lalala lala la.

Aern't youse glad that youse voted for the Madman instead of Kamala lala lala? Fa lala lala. Lala. Lala.

It's the yahoos in Missouri who cheer on Elon until their Medicaid stops or they can't get care at the VA or that infrastructure project in their town gets cancelled. They'll be told it was because of DEI or Biden, and they'll buy it.
Plenty of government employees voted for him. You think it's trump updating websites and closing web portals? It's people just following orders, bending the knee, currying favor. Who's giving private citizen elon musk password and access? lackeys that think they're gonna benefit from being in the wake up these idiots. Maybe some of them didn't vote for them, but they're acting for him, so what's the different really? Too many people happily complying. "Oh, the president said we can't hire black people? Oh well, I guess I'll just give the job to my unqualified white brother then."
Musk's people have been actually locking government employees out of their own databases, among other acts of piracy. To give a personal example, a very close relative works as a contractor for CISA, the Cybersecurity Infrastructure Security Agency. He works in the policy section and new Trump people have been changing policy stances from the Biden administration, such as open accusations of Russian election interference. Now, when every administration comes in they have the right to change policy, and government employees who work for both Republican and Democratic presidents essentially roll with the punches. They stay in their positions because they're working for the people, not the president. The key for Trump and Elon's minions is to get those people to quit. Their highest act of resistance is to stay right the hell where they are, because if they're replaced by a Trump toadie, the damage will last far longer than four years. This is the country we live in now.

Phil Williams of NewsChannel 5 in Nashville, Tennessee, reported on Friday that federal prosecutors were withdrawn from a criminal investigation of Representative Andy Ogles (R-TN) for election fraud; Ogles recently filed a House resolution to enable Trump to run for a third term and another supporting Trump’s designs on Greenland.

This is really big and is not getting enough play. Trump's new Treasury Secretary has allowed Elon's minions to invade the treasury payment system. They now control EVERY government check that gets written. If they don't want the government to pay something, they can prevent it. This is a serious violation that will go unpunished but can have incredible consequences. All government spending is under Elon's control. The media is ignoring this, but it's a huge crisis.

Say you're a protester. Facial recognition pegs you and next month, your parents' Social Security check is 'delayed'. Infrastructure projects in blue states don't get their money, but red states do. Checks go to those who 'play along'. Want to get rid of a government department? Just don't pay for it. This is what's happening nto the USAID program as we speak. Basically the power of the purse in this country resides with Elon Musk.

This is a bigger deal than the tariffs, which are mind-bogglingly stupid.

It's hard to keep up with everything. Things are happening faster than the media can type it. Or say it. It's a goddamn blitzkrieg of political corruption, bad intentions and blatant unconstitutionality. Though who am I to tell youse what is and isn't constitutional? Constitutional is whatever the meticulously crafted corrupt super-majority at SCOTUS sez is constitutional. And they're capable of anything. Anything. By the time they're finished, they will have, by comparison, made Dred Scott look like a sound decision. If they haven't already.

The "play" is starting. Reports are coming in.

The ‘DOGE’ power grabs are unlike anything Americans have seen before
Elon Musk’s surrogates are gaining access to highly sensitive government information — including, in all likelihood, your Social Security number.

Excerpt:
Indeed, Musk has already claimed that his fake department is “shutting down” payments that he and his associates have deemed “illegal,” though (a) it’s not yet clear if this is actually happening; and (b) DOGE has no authority to overrule Congress on allocation of federal funds.

What’s more, as the world’s wealthiest individual and his friends gain access to highly sensitive information — including, in all likelihood, your Social Security number — it’s probably fair to characterize this as the most dramatic data breach in the history of the world.

Making matters vastly worse, there’s no reason to see this as an isolated incident. On the contrary, Musk and his cohorts appear to be approaching a variety of government agencies in a systematic way.

[***]

I’m trying to think of a parallel for this kind of power grab in American history. Nothing comes to mind

Somebody needs to explain to the pubic and especially, the jackass ignoramuses that voted for this Administration that "tax cuts" is a diversionary phrase, Orwellian Speak, really, for this Adminstration lining their pockets by plundering the US Treasury. That's why they're attempting to defund all of these agencies. So they can get the money for themselves.

It's a country of imbeciles and retards that actually believe that President Combover cares about making America better, or that he cares about anything beyond stealing everything that he can put his grubby little short-fingered vulgarian hands on, the fucking sadist. I’m a Federal Worker. Elon Musk’s Government Data Heist Is the Entire Ballgame.
On Friday night, reports emerged that Elon Musk’s aides had tussled with Office of Personnel Management and Treasury staffers while demanding access to troves of information about federal employees. And on Sunday, it was reported that Musk had ousted top officials at the U.S. Agency for International Development for refusing him access to classified security and personnel information.

Those of us within the ranks of the federal workforce looked on in horror at all of this. Those outside the federal government might not understand the gravity of this situation. Think of OPM and the Treasury’s Bureau of the Fiscal Service as the valet sheds of the federal government. They’re not flashy or big, but they hold all the keys. OPM maintains the private information of federal civil servants—bank codes, addresses, insurance information, retirement accounts, employment records. The Treasury’s system processes every payment to everyone from grandmothers waiting for their Social Security check to cancer researchers working to crack the cure. Now there’s a ham-fisted goon in an ill-fitting valet attendant’s coat rummaging in broad daylight through all of the keys—all of that private information, previously given in trust, handled with care, and regulated by law.

Now is the moment to act. We should not be waiting until the perps are driving off with every Bimmer in the lot. This information demands careful management, and transparency around its collection and use. Its inadvertent disclosure could irreparably harm millions of American families. And it’s being taken by people that still can’t figure out how to send an email from within the government without having it flagged as a likely phishing attempt. Someone needs to do something.

But while a few civil servants have bravely stepped into the fray, for the most part federal workers can only watch. We have been effectively silenced. The administration issued gag orders to many agencies, curbing their official communications with the general public, regulated communities, or even sometimes one another. Career staffers are struggling to keep up with lists of who they’re allowed to talk to and who they’re not. And the administration has made it chillingly clear it is willing to fire people without any legal justification whatsoever. It cannot be up solely to the cubicle workers of the federal government to stare down certain retribution in order to delay lawless power grabs. Many of us in the platoons of the federal workforce cannot afford to be dismissed, however illegal the dismissal might be. Litigating our termination is also not a privilege for which we have the resources or time.

Maddeningly, though, the Musk-Miller-Trump administration seems to have convinced many outside commentators to credit its actions as some sort of masterful, calculated scheme. Take it from someone with a front-row seat: Ocean’s Eleven this is not. It’s a smash and grab. Careful and calculating actors wouldn’t brazenly break the law and dare authorities to respond. The only real calculation involved here appears to be that the perp thinks (perhaps correctly) that the owner of the lot is in on the heist and that the judges are in his pocket. The administration is betting that the lawsuits will take too long, resolve too little, or even rubber-stamp the effort with the kind of retconning revisionism that has become popular in some courts.

But make no mistake. At least with regard to the handling of federal employees, the details of the effort are downright embarrassing. The “buyout” spamming of civil servants continues, and the emails read like travel brochures: Kick back, relax, let Musk Cruise Lines take care of your every need. There’s certainly no attempt to provide detailed answers to straightforward questions like “Um, is this actually legal?” or “Do you actually have the money for this?” Federal workers are getting more thoughtful analysis about their separation options from the comment threads on news sites than they are from the human resources apparatus of the organization offering the buyout.

And in between the syrupy overtures of the buyout effort, federal workers are peppered with caustic memos containing head-spinning inconsistencies. One moment, our work is derided as extremely “unproductive,” a waste of money that should be scrapped. The next, it’s apparently so productive as to be a threat to the American people. The next, everyone needs to drop what they’re doing right now to take their preferred pronouns off their signature blocks.

The stream of implementation emails is so whiny and ridiculous it should be funny. But it’s not funny. It’s exhausting. Because sometimes those emails announce the immediate departure of friends and colleagues without explanation. And because, between the existential questions about our agencies and their missions, press the daily concerns of life under such a mercurial employer:

What does this return-to-office mandate actually mean? Should I get the oil changed? New tires? It looks like I’ll be commuting more—but for how long before I, too, get a pink slip without warning or reason?

Should I schedule all my medical appointments and checkups before I lose my health insurance?

Should I get professional liability insurance? Will the government defend me if I’m sued for doing a job I was assigned and performed under a different administration?

I don’t know anyone in the federal government who is seriously thinking about taking Musk’s ill-conceived buyout offer. But everyone I know has polished their résumé and started scanning job postings.

For many of us, starting a job search is not only one more stress on top of many; it is heartbreaking. As civil servants, we were never here for the money. That’s for people with a mandate for profit. A civil servant’s mandate is people. Many of us turned down private-sector jobs because we thought we could help most from the halls of government. Because we believe in the mission. Cruising the classifieds feels like a defeat. More: like a betrayal of the public trust. Because we know, perhaps better than anyone, that the public protections are going to be important in the years to come.

Obviously, we recognize that elections have consequences. A new administration may want to pursue a new agenda, shift policies, and even shrink the government’s footprint. Fine. The public clearly voted for that, and the president clearly enjoys the power to do that. Moreover, many, many of us worked for the first Trump administration and are proud of our accomplishments during that time. Some of us even voted for Trump this past election. But it has become increasingly clear that the effort to shrink the federal government will be implemented by categorical removal or a directive to hit a quota plucked out of a hat by people that don’t know what we do, how we work, or what’s at stake.

Disruption may have become a badge of honor among tech bros with backward hats and pockets full of other people’s money. But when it comes to the nation’s food security, transit safety, market stability, access to electricity, and preservation of civil rights, disruption for the sake of disruption is dangerous. And these disrupters clearly don’t have the chops to do it well; they lack the patience, the multistep reasoning, the humanity, and the humility necessary to make changes to human systems that are effective, efficient, and lasting.

Almost no one is taking the 'buyout' which isn't a buyout, but everyone's worried about being fired. There's just so much recklessness right now. The comparison to the valet parking is accurate. They can smash and grab anything they want right now, secure in the knowledge they won't be prosecuted.

The evil MAGA spawn are just as revolting.
At ASU, they're becoming spies:
A young-Republican group at Arizona State University wants students to snitch on their immigrant classmates, hoping to speed their deportation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Even the legal immigrants.
College Republicans United — one of at least two GOP-affiliated student groups at ASU — made a brash announcement Thursday, saying it would set up a table at the school’s Memorial Union on Friday to encourage students to report classmates to ICE.

We're getting back to an Orwellian nightmare.

Pushing fair use here but this is a good analysis of our governmental crisis from Paul Krugman. https://paulkrugman.substack.com/?utm_s ... dium=email

Musk associates have been given access to the U.S. Treasury’s systems that control all federal payments, from grants to nonprofits to Social Security checks to salaries of federal workers.

The potential for mischief here is immense. The courts may have told the Trump administration that it can’t freeze spending mandated by Congress, but Musk’s people, who haven’t shown much reverence for the law, might well just ignore the courts and not cut the checks.

And they could go beyond cutting off programs the Musk/Trump administration doesn’t like. Imagine that you’re a federal contractor who has made campaign donations to Democrats; suddenly the government stops paying what it owes you and brushes off inquiries by saying that they’re working on the problem. Or you’re a federal employee who, according to somebody in your office who has a personal grievance, has expressed sympathy for DEI; somehow your regularly scheduled salary payments stop being deposited into your bank account. Or even imagine that you’re a retiree who canvassed for Kamala Harris, and for some reason your checks from Social Security stop coming.

Don’t say they wouldn’t do such things. We’ve seen these people in action, and of course they would if they could.

For the moment they probably can’t. The federal payments system is immensely complex, and like most government infrastructure has been financially squeezed for decades. So it’s cobbled together, much of it running on old hardware and even older software, kept functioning thanks to old hands and institutional memory. The 20-somethings Musk is deploying to take over, locking out those old hands and pushing aside the people who know how the system works, almost surely don’t understand enough to politicize payments right away.

As Nathan Tankus, the go-to expert on these matters, says,

I 100% believe that the primary barrier to Elon Musk gaining control of the Treasury payments system is COBOL.

For readers mystified by the reference, COBOL is a very old programming language that was once pervasive in the business world but in which hardly anyone under 60 knows how to program — yet is still widely used in government. (During Covid, the state of New Jersey put out a frantic call for people who knew COBOL to implement expanded unemployment benefits.)

But this observation raises another concern. What if the Musk people — Muskovites? — try to muck with systems they don’t understand, believing that they’re super smart and can master everything with the help of a little AI? It’s not hard to imagine the whole federal payments system — including, by the way, servicing of federal debt — crashing.

It's great that reporting of Musk's takeover is finally coming out. Last night, MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell delivered one of his most passionate openings I've ever seen on the latest Musk goings-on.

Too bad that there'll most likely be another scandalous crisis unleashed today, a brand new one, sending yesterday's Musk takeover into the back pages and memory holes of everybody's mind.

And President Combover's victory lap over the Canadian and Mexican tariffs that he suddenly rescinded because the countries agreed to beef up border security is total shameless bullshit. Those border deals were already negotiated and agreed to in the last months of the Biden administration. What a fucking scumbag lying piece of shit.

Oh, and Susan Collins announced that she will vote to confirm Manchurian Candidate Tulsi Gabbard. Because, of course. Gabbard is the scheming scumbag sleazebag who pretended to be a liberal Democrat for years to establish a foothold in National politics because blue Hawaii doesn't elect dangerous crackpot wingnuts.

Military might be the only salvation at this point. We've got private companies full of college students breaking into government buildings and stealing data, and no one stopping them.

If I was a covert US employee who's safety depended on my cover, I'd be planning my exit strategy about now. Even the less openly fascist republicans have no real qualms about exposing cover for political retribution for exposing their lies.

Maybe some Army Colonel could arrest Musk and his teen-age gang of techies and frog march them to Guantanamo Bay. Oh, the plot twists being that President Draft Dodger is in charge of the military.

I'd recommend Peter Sellers for the roles of the Colonel, Musk and President Draft Dodger with the Combover when they make this into a movie: Dr. Strangehair. Or How ILearned to Steal Everything, Even that Last Box of Paper Clips Because they can come in handy to maintain my ridiculous Combover in Place when a Sudden Strong Wind Creates a Hair Emergency.

It would be lovely if that comes to pass, but we're going to have to do better than looking for the FBI and DoD to lead the resistance.

well it's been clear for 25 years that it's not going to be the Democrats. Who else has even a modicum of power?

Senator Cassidy, a Doctor, voted for that anti-vaxer.
He must have confused Hippocratic with Hypocritical when he took his oath.

Cassidy was one of seven Republican senators to vote to convict Trump of incitement of insurrection in his second impeachment trial.

He almost certainly is trying to get in MAGA's good graces with his re-election coming up next year. Also, his life the last few years has probably been one long death threat. It isn't shocking that his courage has failed him. I follow him online and he has a LOT of haters from his home state pounding him there.

He is weird in that he is 67 but comes across as 20 years older in public.

One argument against our gerontocracy is that it is easier to be brave when you are young, slick, good-lookin', and fast.

When you are really old, you can be brave because you won't be around much longer, but the 55-80-year-olds all live in a lot of vulnerability, so they keep their fingers to the wind, as Senator Bill Cassidy surely is doing here.

I hope so. It's not the spineless media, caving in to President Combover's threats by settling frivolous lawsuits in his favor and pulling punches on their coverage of the most dangerous administration in this country's history. It looks like the best hope now, the only hope really, is for President Draft Dodger with the Combover to suffer a fatal heart attack. The sooner, the better. Natural Causes and all that.
