There have been prosecutions and convictions of those who have stolen documents too sensitive to release in open court. And obstruction in pretty easy to prove here; there are multiple documented efforts to get these files back and they refused. All this 'special master' nonsense is just a sideshow. Top secret files were illegally removed, and when they were requested, were not returned. Lock him up.

it's really that simple.

are people really suggesting that not immediately returning top secret documents, even if they were taken accidentally (they weren't), should be considered a criminal act, no matter who the fuck did it?

but her emails, indeed.

also, one refrain i keep hearing is, "oh, the timing of this is all political"... excuse me, how long should the DOJ have waited for these documents to be returned? how many times should they have had to ask? after the first failure to return all the sensitive materials, and all the other shit the national archives is entitled to by law, there should no longer be a long leash. especially if there are concerns that the sensitive materials are not even remotely secure. "it's too close to the midterms" bitch please, we're still not done with primaries. the election is months away and donald trump isn't running in any election this year. so how is this relevant unless you're worried about, well, about your candidates being put in a position to stand up for either a healthy democracy or the criminal traitorous head of their party. hmm, i guess it's a reasonable concern, when you put it that way...

if the doj taking actions to secure national secrets against criminal activity can be a political act, then failing to do the same must also be a potential political act, also.

and if the biggest argument you might have over the doj taking action to end the continuance of an ongoing crime in the defense of national security, is that it may likely cost you votes, what does that really say about you and your priorities, and also the necessity of the action.

Shameless boot-licking US Senator Lindsey Graham predicts ‘riots in streets’ if Trump is prosecuted over classified records.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/202 ... ed-records

Me, I don't think this is so much a prediction, as it is a dog-whistle, encouraging MAGA to riot. By "predicting" this type of behavior, a public figure such as Graham essentially normalizes the conduct.

Yup, dog whistle. I'm betting this won't happen, though. People are starting to realize that this is a crime, and many Republicans are trying to quietly back away. The true MAGA diehards are committed and can't back off, and will follow him over the cliff. And Y'all Queda isn't organized enough to create chaos on the spur of the moment.

As far as dog-whistling, I don't think that's you, so much as everybody.

I wouldn't bet there won't be political violence though. There's plenty enough every day.

I'm sure there'll be some violence. But there won't be the Watts 1965 kind of violence.

But Graham has been fighting hard against the subpoena to testify in the Georgia case of Agent Orange trying to interfere with their vote count.

I have no doubt some of those documents were his tickets to those Russian (or North Korean or Saudi) places.
If he makes it to Cuba, I'm sure they can find a cell for him at Gitmo.

It is frustrating, isn't it? Watching this thread pop to the top without it being news of an arrest.

The irony is that the crime of mishandling classified materials is about 1/50th as serious as inciting a riot and attempting to overthrow the government. But this is the thing we're focusing on?

Hey. They got Al Capone on tax evasion.
As long as he'll be looking at striped sunlight for a long time, I don't care if they get him for spiting on the sidewalk.
But a conviction on Espionage might go a long way to making some undecideds (how can anyone still be that?) vote Democrat.

You've said you want Trump to go to jail.
What makes you undecided?

I do want Trump to go to jail.

Nothing has to make me undecided. We still don't have any candidates or platforms. I consider it my duty to be undecided.

Fair enough. I understand.
I just feel that if the GOP re-takes the House and/or Senate, he will sleaze out of the charges.
In this case, the evil I know is worse than any Democrat whose basic platform would be preserving our Democracy and our rights.

well, it's seemingly not so much that he mishandled classified information, as sold it to people who used it to kill Americans, among other things.

I still might put it below the genocidal border stuff (Because mostly they all do that) and the pulling the blockers, tossing the plan, and mismanaging a global pandemic that led to the deaths of millions, but I guess that depends if someone uses that information to launch our nukes or not.

The King of Delaying the Inevitable (or what should be the inevitable) gets his
stupid special master request approved by the courts.

That he hasn't been indicted on 200 counts of everything including his kitchen
sink is truly truly fucking maddening.

MAGA Judge Eileen Cannon appoints a Special Master to review all docs in the Mar-a-Lago search warrant case. She'll probably appoint a special master that's totally loyal to Trump and will sell out the nation. Trump will now find out who gave evidence to the DOJ and snitched him out. Not to mention that the while investigation is now stalled out.

Merrick Garland couldn't get a SCOTUS confirmation hearing because the presidential election was 10 months away, but this scumbag MAGA judge was put on the bench by Trump during Trump's lame duck session, after he had already lost to Biden. She shouldn't have even heard the case. She should've refused to even hear it. It was before another judge, but Trump forum shopped the case to a MAGA judge that he himself nominated.
