Not blaming Ceetar for this as he's not in a position of power. My beef is with the actually people of influence who have the same attitude and are making it known publicly.
I mean, i'm saying it to you, not them. I don't know which people in power you're referring too specifically. I usually go with a more reserved 'vaccines are how we're going to beat this. they're super safe. please get vaccinated' in like, facebook groups or whatever.

I agree with the point that how they've been treated, but at _this_ point, after billions of doses... (India isn't very white for example) any hesitancy is unfounded. Just because they have more grounding for "the goverment's out to get me" type nonsense than Qublicans, doesn't make it a good stance.

A lot of the people we're talking about, the line-cooks, the barbacks, etc should've probably been first in line, if we'd done this from a prevention standpoint and not a political equity one.

I think we'll see a big change when the availability of the vaccine goes up and you won't need to be an internet whiz to figure out how to score an appointment. Right now there may be billions of people vaccinated but it's still possible for a hesitant person to know no one in their own community who is vaccinated and aren't going to jump through hoops on the internet to sign up. When it gets to the point when they can throw up a big tent and take all-comers for big vaccine clinics. suddenly they'll start seeing more people they know get the vaccine and they'll go themselves

My granddaughter hasn't gotten it yet because she got COVID and recovered, but you can't get the vaccine for 90 days after you recover.
I think they will be giving them at her college by the time she's eligible to get one.

I don't know anyone who's against vaccines for tinfoil hat reasons, but some, particularly younger ones, just don't seem in any hurry to get one.

i mean that's because of the temporary and stupid J&J pause, but I was seeing plenty of tweets about pretty much open availability around the NYC metro area for days. 3.5 of 8.8m NJ residents have gotten at least the first shot, which I think means if you ask a random adult, they're more likely than not to have gotten a shot.

We're there. we're at the point that we can really start forcing this virus to the fringes if we can get that last 5-10% or whatever 'reluctant' population vaccinated in advance of them lowering the minimum age.

My daughter, 19, registered yesterday (the first day she was eligible) and today scored an appointment for Monday of next week. It's going to be Pfizer for her.

My son and my girlfriend get their second doses next week. And for me, today is my milestone day. Two weeks since my second dose of Pfizer.

Just returned from getting shot #1. The strangest thing about it was being a room that was really crowded for the first time in over a year.

Got my second shot last week. A relative who who works in healthcare said to drink lots of Gatorade before and after shot 2 to mitigate the side effects. Both my daughter and I did this and were fine. My wife didn't, and wasn't.

Now, can I say for certain that there is a cause and effect there. But it's worth a try if you are worried.

Pfizered for a second time yesterday. Burned up all night soaked in sweat, and my shoulder is killing me.

Great to see so many of my internet friends getting jabbed.

Two things that are now irking me about this whole process. First is that because Fgirl is only 13 we will have to get her a Covid test any time we want to go to the ballpark (major or minor leagues), whereas the rest of us will all be vaccinated. The second one is that my county somehow fucked up the process of sending my immunization records in to the state, so NY has no knowledge of my 2nd shot and therefore I cannot get the Excelsior Pass for myself. Which means I'll be carting around a giant laminated Moderna vaccine card all summer.

These are admittedly small things to be groaning about, I recognize that.

Ridiculous that they made these cards twice the size of your wallet

Don't laminate the cards if you plan on getting the booster shots and have your shot history all in one place.
My wife took the plastic sleeves they sell to protect photographs and cut them to fit the cards. That way, the cards are protected but can be removed for updates.

My county finally got caught up, apparently, and sent in record of my second shot. So now I have a valid Excelsior Pass on my phone with a record of my vaccination. Which helps -- that means I won't have to drag my card around.

I never did laminate that card, for the record. Suggestions to not do so make more sense now that Moderna has announced that there will likely be a 3rd shot later this year.

Anyone who has been a Jets fan wouldn't trust a company owned by Jets owner Woody Johnson to produce a vaccine. In fact, we wouldn't trust him to run a corner lemonade stand. So we're not surprised that his company has messed it up.
The difference is, rooting for the Jets has been slowly killing us over a period of years. And this vaccine fuckup could have killed millions quicker than that.

It was good to hear this morning that a Congressional sub-committee is looking into how J&K, and Kodak, were awarded medical contracts by the tRump administration based on their contributions to his campaign.
