This could just as well go in the Baseball Forum
Re: This could just as well go in the Baseball Forum
And did those people get money, prime speaking spots on national television, and the martyr treatment?
There are no both sides to whatever this argument is. Sure, some more liberal folk also can be nasty evil people, but they're not lauded and promoted (or elected) for it. No one's celebrating them. There aren't some uniform "leftist" politics or whatever.
And it's roughly 110% irrelevant to dykstra.

Depends on what's being said and how.
We all know that the internet emboldens those with the cloak of distance and anonymity (and it's not like internet threats weren't hurled at the Supremes also)
but that doesn't mean these in-person 'interruptions' of coffee and dessert are all polite or harmless.
p.s. and as I've said before, I find the whole idea of blaming the court to be a waste of energy on top of the half century the pro-choice side has already wasted

I'm certainly agreed on that. Demonizing the justices is deeply counterproductive. I hope no ex-Mets try to do that.
I hope no other ex-Mets try to do that.
But Lenny Dykstra is painting a target on a congregation, that may not even include the justice on the evening in question. His tweet also comes as part of a long record of sociopathic choices.
But please, don't try to kill any justices or lawmakers who you disagree with, and don't facilitate others to do so.
Also, I've resolved to write Keith Hernandez tomorrow, to try to persuade him to utterly forsake the ex-president and his cult.

Yeah, I just ignored Dykstra as he speaks Stupid as a second language. Or, considering his butchering of English, maybe as a first.
To understand things more fully I'd have to dive into the Twitterverse which I have no intention of doing. He appears to be claiming that
there are religious Jews and, for lack of a better term, socio-economic types with the latter presumably being the ones behind socialism
and probably international cabals involving pedophilia and banking crimes. The two, in his mind, appear to be mutually exclusive clubs.
He claims to back the first but thinks the second is out to destroy the country.

He suffers from being a dumb fuck. And the suffering radiates outbound in a circle with him at the center.
Re: This could just as well go in the Baseball Forum
Who the hell would follow Lenny on Twitter anyways? He's done absolutely
jack dick for the last thirty five years but be a stumbling piece of garbage.
So I looked, he has 8,800 followers. Comfortingly small number, I suppose.

I don't understand why anyone follows anyone on Twitter, but apparently that's just me..

I'm not big on it, but I have two accounts. Most of what I see on Twitter
is re-posted here. I also get emails that alert me when several regular posters
here tweet stuff so I look.
I followed Trump, hard not to tune into the daily train wreck...

I used to follow Keith’s cat Hadji but figured he was a Trumper too
Re: This could just as well go in the Baseball Forum
Twitter, professionally, is a godsend for me. It's enormously valuable.
Personally? It's hit or miss on its best days. I definitely don't spend as much time there as I used to, and I've unfollowed and/or blocked a lot of people.

Re: This could just as well go in the Baseball Forum
I aggressively cull my twitter feed. I unfollow or mute people that even provoke "ugh, that's a misguided or lame take" responses regularly. It's still the best place to go imo for live responses to things like sports and it's also wide-ranging enough that I can pop on and be exposed to all sorts of topics (That I've pre-selected, mostly) that I'm interested in. It's the "show me something interesting, somewhat curated to my likes" of the internet, in short text form. Obviously Tik Tok is better for that, but that also needs more curating, and it's only one thing at a time versus scrolling a whole time line and mentally reading what I want.

I don't really tweet (once a month), but I stumbled over a year-old Piazza tweet today I couldn't resist responding to, and he responded back.

It's amazing how the the dramatic coverage of 9/11 actually led people to believe symbolic things about themselves were literally true.
Journalism: In the wake of these events. Mayor Giuliani has become the world's mayor.
Giuliani: I'm the mayor of the WORLD! If somebody won't pick up the phone, tell that that bastard the mayor of the WORLD is on the line.
Journalism: Oops. Uh-oh.

Journalism: Mike Piazza's homerun allowed us to heal.
Piazza: I can HEAL. I'm a HEALER. You want to talk back to me, I'm not having it. I can heal with my bat and you'd do well to respect that power. Let all nations supplicate themselves before me.
Journalism: What have we done?

The difference is that liberals condemn that sort of behavior while conservatives refuse to.Frayed Knot wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 9:46 pm But then there's also the guy who, tipped off by protesters to his home address, traveled across the country with the intent to kill Kavanaugh. And the ones who publicize where Amy C. Barrett's young children go to school.
Those threats, and intended actions, are every bit as objectionable as assholes hurling shit on the internet about this judge and his synagogue.
I note that you didn't bother to say Dykstra was wrong. Of course, now that I pointed it out, you're going to say what you couldn't think to say before.

Piazza didn't allow us to heal, Luis Gonzalez and the Diamondbacks are the ones that reminded us that the bad guys can lose too.
The Piazza home run narrative always feels a lot like "meh, we're rolling back vaccine restrictions and mask mandates". Forcibly pushing a normalcy narrative that feels like it ignores the society-altering course we were/are on.

I like how Edgy addresses him as "Mr. Piazza". For me, that little touch made Edgy's whole post. Piazza may have thought that Edgy was totally unaware of Piazza's baseball background. Which, if true, might have made it likelier that Piazza would even bother to respond.
