i three'd it as well.

hard mode makes it harder to eliminate extra letters, but also forces your guesses to be progressively closer to correct. and because you're not guessing words that cannot possibly be correct - which is what happens when you guess words that omit known letters - you should have better results.

unless you find yourself in a position where what you really need is to eliminate extra letters, of course.
