Yeah, the tone isn't exactly going to help Americans find the humanity in each other or anything.

Shouldn't Alito and Thomas be investigated for Tax Evasion?
Just saying.

Joe Biden, master oil trader. Sold oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve when prices were sky-high, thereby putting downward pressure on prices, then refilled the reserve when prices were lower. Making a cool $6 billion for the US Treasury in the process. Fascinating stuff.

There goes the neighborhood.
It looks like Steve Bannon may be coming to a Federal Correctional Institution near me.

imprisonment shouldn’t happen this summer, as the trial-level judge has ordered, because he would be behind bars “for the four-month period leading up to the November election, when millions of Americans look to him for information on important campaign issues,”
“This would also effectively bar Mr. Bannon from serving as a meaningful advisor in the ongoing national campaign,”
Good golly, this summer is gonna suck giant fucking ass crack.

As a GOV poll participant, I get some advance findings.
This one is chilling, but not surprising (released to day):
58% of Republicans told us that convicted felons should be allowed to be president. That marks a 41-point increase over two months.

That is a pretty dumb question on the part of the pollster. Of course they are ALLOWED - that is a question of constitutional law, why are we polling people on that? The poll could very well reflect increased education on that point of law driven by current events rather than a change in opinion. A better question would he "would you consider voting for a convicted felon?"

Perhaps the poll sought to determine whether people thought that a convicted felon should be permitted to run for President, but MFS62 didn't phrase his post as precisely as he could have. Or the quote MFS62 received and then re-posted here wasn't precisely phrased by the polling outfit.

This makes more sense.

Of course, the US Constitution does not prohibit a convicted felon from holding the President's office. Not only that, but the President could, technically, hold the President's office while incarcerated so far as the Constitution is concerned. My guess is that the poll was asking if the public is OK with that.

This.
The sentence that came to me and I re-posted is a summary of the original poll questions. There were several phrased with different nuances- can he run, should he run, etc. This was their interpretation of the summary poll results, and as you stated, wasn't done well.
But what got me was in the increase since his convictions. Maybe they read the stories and saw that he is not prohibited. But I think his conviction hardened the resolve of his supporters. And that is scary.

BTW, this poll is quoted by many news media outlets (tv, press). I hope they saw the problems with it that you guys did.
