Probably not. We haven't updated the board software in quite a while.

Funny I only noticed it

Question, is there board maintenance that goes on daily around noon? Seems the board really slows up for me certain times of the day. I exclusively use the CPF on my phone and I realize it could well be the WiFi at work etc , curious though

There may be something going on on the server that I'm not aware of, but nothing happens specific to this forum.

I sure hope these newer light bulbs last a helluva lot longer than the ones the government won't allow to be manufactured anymore cuz I just spent $26 for a pair of them.

I've been seeing this lately, as well. Right now, as a matter of fact, but periodically today the board has been loading very slowly. Saw this on the weekend, as well.

Edit: now it's loading normally. Nevermind me.

They do, and it's not even close. I replaced my first light bulb about six years after moving in to my renovated house that had all new bulbs.

I'm surprised they cost that much. I've usually been able to find packs of 6 for around $20. But I think they were subsidized by the gummint for a while.

These were two three-way bulbs, sold in single packs at $12.98/per, so they are a jump up in price above and beyond that of the standard incandescent replacements.

I expected them to be more, but at that price they'll need to run laps around the old types for customers not to feel like they've been sold a promise with a lot of fine print attached.

Well, as you probably know, Congress effectively outlawed the old incandescent bulbs through a phased out process which I believe is now complete.
iow, you cannot buy the type of bulb which has been sold for a century or more anymore. LED lights are the new less energy consuming standard
going forward with the idea that they're longer lasting and use a lot less juice making them cheaper for teh consumer to run and theoretically better
for the environment. The drawback for the user is the increased cost up front which he/she sees right away vs the saved cost savings over the life of
the bulb which is hidden in a long game of pennies and dimes per month kind of rate which you don't really see even though it's real.

Specifically the ones I bought are three-way bulbs from GE under the name 'refresh LED Energetic Daylight'

We almost ran into a deer today. We were driving at about 60 mph on a highway in Connecticut. Wesaw it on the center divider. It was standing still. We were about 100 feet away when it looked at us and THEN started across the road. We had slowed down but didn't expect the fucker to move after it saw us. We came to a stop about 8 feet from it. It then slowly walked away.
A car twice its size didn't scare it away.
I didn't think they were that dumb.
Must have been late for a MAGA meeting.

In contrast to that story, earlier this summer I was cruising downhill on my bicycle in a fairly rural area
when I came around a turn to see a bear in the midst of strolling across the road. He (she?) took one
look at the approximate 200 total pounds of human and bike coming its way at maybe 25 mph and
quickly darted the rest of the way across and disappeared into the woods.

Not sure what that says about either the bear or the deer. Or about bikes and cars for that matter.

I started taking this so I could just watch the news, moreso than the
items listed on the pictured mini marketing billboard. But it works.

Got a call the other night from the brother of a long time acquaintance that his sister had fallen in the shower and is now in a rehab facility. My wife had never really asked how old she is, but thought she is a few years older than us (early 80's).
The brother told us that her birthday is next week and she'll be 97!!! She and her brother live together in a NY apartment. He's 98, still does the coking and cleaning and is an avid Mets fan.

My A1C is now below 7.
Does that mean I still have to watch that annoying girl in the Ozempic commercial?

Watching the Army vs. Navy football game. The style of play is old school smash mouth football, where the forward pass is seldom seen, but it is fun to see true student athletes playing college sports.

Is there some sort of unofficial historical agreement that the Army-Navy game should be 90% running plays in order to keep it as a national monument to historical football, preserved in amber but still alive? Or do they just build running offenses year-after-year because it's the only way to stay on the field while pitting cadets and midshipmen against Division I competition?

I'm curious. I dunno.

Do you send out greeting cards for the holidays?
Receive them?

I get calls from relatives I can't stand.
I'm looking for a card that says:
"Happy (whatever)"
And inside it says:
"I'm sending this card because I don't want to talk to you".

I stopped sending Christmas cards in 2009, figuring it was a 20th Century tradition that's steadily going out of date in the 21st. Once I stopped sending them, I quickly stopped receiving them. The only ones I get anymore are from friends who send them assembly-line style, they simply print out a bunch of labels and stick them on envelopes containing printed cards with no handwritten messages at all.
