Some were exactly like what you thought they we like, for good or bad. Ken Starr was one of those people who was very different from what I expected. I guess I thought he'd be somewhat dour and rigid. But he was very friendly, self-effacing and humble. I asked what you get for being Time Magazine's Man of the Year. "Nothing," was the answer.
Of course, that both is and was false. He leveraged his fame into numerous other well-paid jobs, pursuing several questionable and/or distasteful legal theories. And that’s before we even get to the hypocrisy (he actually said it was “unconstitutional” to impeach a President) and incompetence (failing to address sexual violence at Baylor).

There’s a lot more here than him seeming “humble.”
Now visiting the special place in hell reserved for him.

Bang that crash symbol for longtime (and well traveled) drummer Anton Fier. Always in the band that just missed breaking free of the underground, Fier was a founder of The Golden Palominos, and was also celebrated for his work with The Lounge Lizards, The Feelies, The Lodge, Pere Ubu, The Voidoids for a short period, and in whatever Bob Mould called his backing band. He was part of several of John Zorn's noise orchestras, that pretty much were the best and the worst of what the nineties had on offer, depending on your speed, but he was terrific either way.

I don't have anything for the juke box thread, because footage of him is scarce, but you can find digestible versions of what he did in the heart of the Palominos catalog as well as the funner, early Feelies.

Still alive by all accounts is fellow drummer Anton Fig, who will probably still be confused with him.

Ms. Fletcher is joined by nineties rap star and one-time firefighter Coolio, passing away at 59, two months after the "Gangster's Paradise" video surpassed one billion views on YouTube.

You didn't have a childhood if you didn't listen to Loretta 8-tracks riding
around in a purple Gremlin with a white interior. RIP...

I think she was 34. Whoopi Goldberg matched that, but managed to make it 58 before becoming a great-grandmother.

I don't remember. I have to ask my friend if there are pictures of his mom's car.

Two Jets offensive linemen from the 1980s passed last weekend: Marvin Powell, 67, and Jim Sweeney, 60.

https://www.upi.com/Sports_News/NFL/202 ... 664808381/

I worked with a guy who said Powell threatened to kick his ass after he wrote something particularly critical when he covered the team. Without knowing the situation but knowing the guy, I imagine Powell was at least partially justified.
Hope for the best. Expect the Mets.
