Matt Flegenheimer and Maggie Haberman have an extended exposé on the open secret that is Mayor Giuliani's alleged heavy drinking, and his supposed associated decline. A sad read, but a story that serves no one to keep under wraps.

One of the trio of Trump/final year books I read over the past few years described Giuliani as 'constantly drinking and farting'.

The way that I understand it, the 20 miles being built were passed in a 2019 R bill that required this section be completed prior to the end of 2023. The President's administration has tried many times to get the funding shifted, but he's been ignored.

I'm not sure that this is the explanation being portrayed in the news headlines.

It's super disappointing. I wish they'd take the money and just build giant row of intake buildings where migrants can be treated and their asylum requests assessed and processed. A wall by itself is still stupid and we are apparently woefully unprepared for all the people that have been arriving.

The president, and the administrative agencies he directs, need to do the things that Congress passed into law and appropriated funding for, even if they don't like it. This is called "democracy" and shouldn't be too hard to understand. It shouldn't be a headline either, but YAY POLITICS

I get it. I seem to recall the last President being impeached over it.

Apparently too hard for Senate Republicans to understand, though.

Trump has endorsed Jim Jordan, enabler of sexual abuse and disdainer of jackets. That should probably sew things up for him for Speaker.

He's going to have to shut the government down to build his street cred with the Kool Kidz, though. Right before the holidays, too. That should go well.

Liz Cheney speaks out against Jordan becoming the speaker:
Jim Jordan knew more about what Donald Trump had planned for January 6th than any other member of the House of Representatives,” Cheney said. “Jim Jordan was involved, was part of the conspiracy in which Donald Trump was engaged as he attempted to overturn the election.

Since you don't have to be a member of the House to be Speaker, I'm wondering which one of the loonies would nominate Sean Hannity.

Part of what I don't understand is just how 60 or 80 million people want a blithering idiot like this to be in charge of our country. He's literally too dumb to string a coherent sentence together.

Please. They believe in QAnon and that Hillary sexually abuses babies and toddlers in DC pizzeria basements before she kills them and drinks their blood.

George Santos with new charges ,including

Federal prosecutors on Tuesday filed a significant array of new charges against Representative George Santos of New York, accusing him of new criminal schemes, including stealing the identities and credit cards of donors to his campaign.

The new accusations were made in a 23-count superseding indictment that laid out how Mr. Santos had charged his donors’ credit cards “repeatedly, without their authorization,” distributing the money to his and other candidates’ campaigns and to his own bank account.

Trump's allies in Congress who have decried the two-tier justice system and the politicization of the Justice Department better come out as hard for their boy Santos. I think they forgot to rally against the crooked feds on behalf of that poor Bob Menendez guy.

"Jim Jordan gets fewer votes in second vote for speaker than first"

I think the Republican conference should nominate Representative Pelosi at this point.

As a Republican, I think Jordan is a terrible idea. They need the least Trump-associated rep not the most!

That said this is embarrassing - they need to agree on SOMEONE
