Piazza loves to get on his high horse and reply in the comments. Since the candidate he was helping circumvent democracy in California still lost he's been a little less political though.

I might fire up my Twitter account and see if I can talk some sense into Hadji. Maybe if I tell him all six of my cats are proud Democratics and are living the good life because of it…

Mike is coming back at me with a sarcastic meme.

I'm starting to regret defending him when METSSC called him "Mopey."

Twitter is so weird.

It's kinda funny you have Mike's ear.

Don't touch it, you don't know where it's been.

It is funny. I haven't had a good political confrontation with a Hall-of-Famer since that time I told Fergie Jenkins that Sarbanes-Oxley was full of shit.

It's nice that he went to the effort to find an appropriate meme.

I have guys I've known since Cub Scouts and Little League that refuse to put
the Kool-Aid! goblet down. Some of them have excommunicated me from their
lives. I've been told, 'you are no longer a brother or a friend and to go fuck my-
self' and they've made it difficult to be social with their families.

All over Trump. Really?

I believe it. It’s just incredible what lengths people go to to follow this guy. And what’s weird is, they could quietly support a different Republican candidate without anybody thinking twice about it, but they won’t.

Edgy, you’re gonna have to dig deep to respond to that tweet 🤣 gotta admit though, at least Piazza’s keeping it clean.

That is to respond to KC…I tried to login but forget my password

Of course, I really don't, because I've already spent a good part of my adult life digging deep on Mike Piazza. I'm a member of The Crane Pool Forum, for Pete's sake.

Thanks for the likes, Willets!

he's "keeping it clean" in the sense that he's not dropping slurs, but standing up and making a video in support of a raging misogynic troll and abuser like Larry Elder, and then promising only to appear at Dodger Stadium if he wins. If you scroll back to the election time from last year, Piazza describes his politics in a very anti-women way.

Definitely can't root for Italy in the WBC with this guy at the helm.

I bet he didn't expect a years-ago quote of his to be dropped back on his head. Nice move.

But even just seeing these (relatively) non-confrontational pieces of discussion, and hearing about and handful of others
is enough to reinforce my decision (not even a decision really as I never think about it) to stay off that platform entirely.

This is why I could never be on Twitter. On the one hand, talking directly with Mike Piazza is cool. On the other hand, finding he's a Trump and January 6th sympathizer is depressing.

That's pretty much where I'm at as well.
Plus I just don't give a shit what the political views of ex-ballplayers and actors are like. Maybe some people are avidly following Mark Canha's latest
restaurant forays but when I start spending my time wondering where someone I have never, and likely will never meet, is eating dinner it'll be time
for one of you to come by and drop a really big rock on my head.

I have a love-hate relationship with Twitter.

It changed my job when i was a journalist. Once we were able to tweet links to stories, we were able to grow from telling our story locally to connecting with an audience anywhere. Was pretty successful at it and was assigned training the other reporters. Some of them got it, others were convinced the Internet was a fad and people would always want a printed newspaper.

I'm on it every day for work even still. I keep some lists of people or organizations I need to follow. But I don't spend a ton of time reading it.

I think it gets abused. People mistake snark for substance. I think it is by far the most negative of the social media platforms. I don't understand the people with 60,000 tweets and 2,000 followers who think the world needs to hear their every thought.

The absolute worst, and laziest, news stories are "X event happens, Twitter explodes." Twitter explodes over everything, and anyone can cherry pick a handful of snarky posts that meet their objective to fill their story.

That said, it's most useful to me now when there is some breaking news expected, like the trade deadline or Hall of Fame announcement or something like that. I was refreshing over and over the night we thought the Scherzer deal was going to go down.

Good for Edgy for engaging and showing there is room for thoughtful and respectful discourse.

If you're a browser user and you haven't already, you may want to try Tweetdeck, which provides a more entertaining Twitter user experience. I was a rarely-if-ever user prior to discovering that interface.

What are the odds that this was Piazza I was dealing with, and not somebody at his publicist's office?

Good call. Tweetdeck allows me to follow the accounts I really need to follow and let the others scroll by!

It's great also for following a hashtag. I have one that looks for either 'LGM' or 'Mets' and it's an entertaining feed to watch in real time during a Mets game.

That's kind of cool, I wonder why it's not more publicized. I like how you can
clear a column and just start from scratch. I don't care what I missed yesterday
or an hour ago.

What columns do you guys use? I have room for four on my laptop but only have
three right now - 'Home' 'Notifications' and 'Messages'

I use it for work, so I have one column for anything using my college's tag, one for all posts from colleges I follow, one for anything posted by anyone connected to my college -- which scares me, sometimes -- one for messages, and one for Mets stuff.
