We offered $200 incentives at my college. More than 4,500 students took us up on it!

I'd be more comfortable if they took Joni Mitchell's music off spotify.

"I think it's highly recorded now, there's 150 I believe now, it's over 100 professional athletes dead -- profession athletes -- the prime of their life, dropping dead
that are vaccinated, right on the pitch, right on the field, right on the court"
Can he name ONE?

that is a pretty absurd claim to make. professional athletes tend to be very easy to find, public people. anyone with internet access could probably create a list of all 'professional athletes' from team websites/baseball-reference/etc from a year ago and actually prove every last one of them is alive or dies from something else.

_______________

How the falsehood of athletes dying from coronavirus vaccines spread

A newspaper shows the Danish soccer team escorting player Christian Eriksen in June after he collapsed on the pitch during the European Championship game against Finland. The incident sparked the first of many Internet rumors about athletes collapsing because of coronavirus vaccines. (Martin Meissner/AP)

Excerpt:
“Of course, we’ve heard story after story. I mean, all these athletes dropping dead on the field, but we’re supposed to ignore that.”

— Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), in an interview on “The Charlie Kirk Show,” Jan. 27

Johnson made this comment after he asserted that there have been “over 22,000 deaths reported in association with the [coronavirus] vaccines” — and then quickly adding “that doesn’t prove causation.”

We have explored before how Johnson routinely raises concerns about vaccines by citing data from the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), a database co-managed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration. Anyone can submit a report to VAERS, and the reports are not verified. The numbers are basically meaningless.

In this instance, we are more interested in his comment about “athletes dropping dead on the field.” His staff says, as with his references to VAERS, that Johnson is just asking questions, not making factual claims.

“Senator Johnson stated he has heard stories of athletes dying on the field and those should be investigated,” spokeswoman Alexa Henning said. “The Senator’s point in raising these issues has always been that our federal health agencies should be concerned about reports on adverse reactions related to covid-19 vaccines and they should fully investigate and make their findings available to the American people.”

She provided a link to a website called Good Sciencing, maintained by anonymous people, that has a blog post with the headline, as of Jan. 31: “577 Athlete Cardiac Arrests, Serious Issues, 352 Dead, After COVID Shot.”

Here’s the rub: This claim has been debunked repeatedly. The story of athletes dropping dead from coronavirus vaccines has its roots in mysterious Austrian websites with ties to that country’s far-right populist party, the Freedom Party. Those stories were then recycled by right-wing media in the United States and then eventually came out of the mouth of a U.S. senator.

In my ongoing effort to be at the vanguard of CPF immunity, I went and got my 4th shot/2nd booster this morning, as my arthritis medication puts me in the immunocompromised category and it had been 7 months since my initial booster.

Sore arm and otherwise feeling pretty good.

Got my second Pfizer COVID booster shot yesterday and my arm still hurts.
It didn't after the other shots.
Guess I'm just getting old.

CVS should have sent you an e-mail confirming all the data afterwards. That's what they did when I got my second booster at the local CVS.

Planning to get the second booster soon.

Today was the first day that masks were not required for all patients and staff in our office since March 2020. I still wore a mask when seeing patients and will do so again tomorrow. Starting next week I plan to wear a mask when seeing patients that still choose to wear a mask out of respect for the patient and their concerns. For those patients that choose not to wear a mask, I will likely not wear a wear a mask either.

We made the decision to relax our mask policy since the 7 Day Average for new Cases for our county has been running between 0-2 since March 9th. At present 4 counties in NC are considered a medium risk for infection and strain on healthcare system. The other 96 counties (ours and all adjacent counties) are considered low risk by CDC. We will continue to track the trends/rates regularly, but we felt the time had finely come to let people choose for themselves.

We've tried everything under the sun, and yet there's still resistance on my campus. It's sad, really.

Fully vaccinated, obviously working in Pulmonary I better be. I did finally catch Covid in August, felt like a nasty enough cold for three days , grateful it wasn't worse.

We're somehow still no-vids in our household (furiously knocks on all the wood). We're still maskers in crowded spots and omicron boosted. I suppose we could've had it and not known it and that'd be just fine with me.

Yay, an Irish sighting ! Please stay here we are less toxic than Twitter (well, this thread is anyway).

Fgirl and I continue to be COVID free. My wife and son each had it earlier this year but recovered after 2-3 symptomatic days, with no long term consequences thankfully.

My daughter chalks our non-contagion up to our elevated "Jewishness" as she inherited my swarthier Mediterranean complexion.

Coughing a little more than normal, some chest congestion and a mild fever.
(My base temp is 98.2 - reptilian - so 99.8 is an event)

Was around a lot of strangers Thur-Sat selling KB's knacks at a fair and maybe
I got zapped. Tested positive just now. I'm not sure I trust these at home tests
and will take another after noon. I got a bunch of 'free' ones a few weeks ago.

Thankfully this week I really don't need to be around many people so if I am
indeed covidized I can just ride it out...

Feel better Kase , plenty of fluids , call your primary doctor, mention the cough and ask for azithromycin ( in fact the doc might put you on paxlovid)

Zpack is good to hammer the cough , don't want that lingering

I’m still testing positive. Crazy.

Yes take it easy KC.

We started out with 12 tests on hand and every one of them was expired. Checked online and found out some dates were extended.

Thanks, guys. I took the second test and it was positive so 'taking this
seriously' got bumped up a notch. Doctor's office won't prescribe anything
without a virtual office visit tomorrow afternoon. Yay.

I feel a lot better than I did this morning, but we'll see.
