Yes.

But I still agree with the decision to move on from Darnold even if they picked the wrong guy to replace him because of the way the rookie salary scale and contracts for even mediocre veteran QBs work in the NFL.

The unspoken part of that video:
[the soon-to-be 40 year old] Aaron Fuckin' Rogers is going to be a New York Jet!!

With the caveat that this is not yet a done deal, how do the Jets fans here feel about the prospect of pivoting to Rodgers?

I'm not a Packer fan, but certainly have the local angle. I don't know one single Packer fan that wanted Rodgers back in 2023. Nobody here wanted him back last year either. He can still play, but he has always been a pouting diva who makes a big deal out of trying not to look like one. He's held the GB fan base hostage for a while now because they put him on a pedestal earlier in his career. I would be VERY interested to see how he interacts with the NY media (which is the polar opposite of GB/WI sports media). I think there is a better than even chance that he gets eaten alive there.

The Rodgers/Packers drama the past few years has been like parents in a toxic relationship who should split up, but they are staying together for the kids (the GB fans). It resulted in everyone being miserable.

the jets getting aaron rodgers is quite possibly the most jets thing the jets have ever jets.

the only thing possibly more jets would be if it were the knicks who were in fact getting aaron rodgers.

It makes me quite nauseous. I can't even muster up a thanks but no
thanks, I'm more like no fucking way and let's forget it's ever come up.

I think he's a twat. But I'll cheer for him if he can win games and throw touchdowns.

Like everything with the Jets, this is almost certain to end badly.

A couple factors in play here
1) a certain pct of NYJ fans and (presumably) NYJ mgmt, most certainly egged on by the football media (who not only discuss the NFL 24/7/365 but do so almost entirely
through the lens of QBs) are convinced that the Jets, as currently constructed, are merely a good QB away from being a serious contender if not a true SB candidate this
coming year. Hence the reaction of the fan a couple posts above yours.

2) getting Rogers (Aaron, not Steven J.) satisfies the knee-jerk reaction of NYC teams to land not just a good player (or coach) but, maybe more importantly, a NAME player..
The Knicks, and to a lesser extent the Rangers, given the midtown Manhattan location of those two and their co-jolned history of corporate ownership over the years (including,
at various times, the likes of Paramount, Gulf & Western, Cablevision) have been the biggest adherents to the name chase but the others as well (with maybe the NJG most
immune to that trend). So even if it doesn't work there'll be the sentiment of 'Oh well, at least we got the best guy out there so ya can't say we didn't try'.

... I would be VERY interested to see how he interacts with the NY media (which is the polar opposite of GB/WI sports media).
I think there is a better than even chance that he gets eaten alive there.
This certainly could have a short honeymoon plus a bad and quick ending (as some here have already predicted). But, to quote the title of a current book on the Astros sign
stealingscandal, 'Winning Fixes Everything' and if the Jets w/Rogers even get to a SB (it's only been 54 years since their last only one) much less win it, he's gonna own the
town (Joe Willie Who?) and can play the diva all the live long day.

This is just another Boomer Esiason, Vinnie Testaverde, and Bret Farvre, all of whom led the team to the Superbowl.

Or not.

Last week, uber Jets fan Mike Greenberg said the wait for the announcement of the Rogers deal was making him sick.
No kidding.
He had heart surgery and is now recovering.
