I think it barely qualifies as a real bill. If it were to pass, it would be superseded by federal law, federal regulations, and the Constitution, as SNAP is a federal program. It looks to me like just a gimmick bill, to portray opponents as soft on entitlements abuse.

The proposal doesn't ban all cheese purchases, but oddly specifies "American cheese." This seems to be targeted at Kraft Foods, who have reported in the past that up to 1/6 of their revenue comes from SNAP purchases.

So, there's a guy on facebook I grew up with (now a dentist in CA) that
