His 'weird' attack may have been what put him on the radar, but he's been a solid progressive as a governor. He's a genuine guy- a geography teacher, a high school football coach, a member of the National Guard for 24 years in addition to being a three-term Congressman and two-term governor.

And he's NOT a lawyer, which is unusual.
he seems to be making the weirdos and genociders mad, so that's a big thumbs up from me.

Which tells me that Kamala's team is feeling pretty confident. Rather than asking "Who can pull us the votes that we need?" they asked "Who will do the best job once we're elected?"
I disagree. If you listen to multiple media hits for each VP candidate over the past weeks, I think Walz had the most pizzaz of any of them.

This was a classic "do no harm" pick. I think it was the right choice.

Walz is much more of a 'live wire' than Tim Kaine was. He's not afraid to mix it up, and he's good at the type of put-downs that drive the MAGAs crazy. He'll be catnip for the late-night shows, just you watch.

He's the one who started that "GOP is weird" stuff. And it stuck.

Because it's true.

Wow, I'm glad I was wrong. Mark Kelly gave a wooden speech tonight. Last night Tim Walz lit the place on fire.

I loved his analogy of being a football team in the fourth quarter with the ball and down by a field goal. (Then the Jet fan in me has nightmares of losing a fumble or throwing a pick-six.)

He also kind of mixed it up by saying how we all have to be blockers and tacklers.

We can't tackle on offense, man!

Yup. I thought the DNC did a great job of showcasing the "might have beens". Mark Kelly was boring as hell. Whitmer wasn't ready either. I thought she came across as robotic. Buttigieg was good, as always, but I don't think the country is ready to elect a gay man. I thought both Shapiro and Walz were terrific.

I think Kamala hit a home run with her speech. Outside of the Obamas, who are both so stupidly talented it's not even fair, Kamala gave the best speech of the week. I know Pelosi wanted an open convention, but I feel like Kamala did a great job of showing that she was the best chance for this November.

I hope like hell that it's enough.

This is, obviously, a small sample size, but I watched a seven-minute video on CNN where they watched Harris' speech with eight undecided voters in the Allentown, PA area.

One of the eight wasn't sure she was going to vote because she didn't like Trump or Biden, but the other seven were (allegedly) open minded before the speech.

Afterwards, the one who didn't like Biden or Trump didn't like Harris either, so she's still thinking of not voting.

The speech tilted six of the seven towards Harris, and one towards Trump. He was a middle-aged Black man who works in real estate. He said that he thought that Kamala was "aggressive" but that Trump is "more aggressive". Apparently aggression is his primary criteria.

So make of it what you will, but it's at least a tiny bit encouraging that six of eight were swayed in Kamala's direction against one for Trump.

Well, "we can't get caught tackling on offense" would be
better put. There are probably three or four flags per snap
that could be called on either side of the line.

At least no one said we're gonna build a wall and Mexico is
going to pay for it. I mean who the hell would fall for that??

If she wanted an open convention she should have started her behind the scenes machinations to oust Biden at least six months earlier.
Two years earlier would have been even better. And I'm not buying that she just 'discovered' ol' Joe's slippage during the debate. That
was merely the moment it could no longer be hidden and/or publicly denied.
