Mental illness is everywhere. (I've got my own share of it.) But the depravity of the bullshit in our politics sets fire to it. The guy's position, such as it can be gleaned, is that Presidents Trump and Biden were in cahoots, so he's not even apparently a supporter.

But I have no doubt that crazed behavior by those in power stirs up incoherent madness in the populace. The former president can pretend that he has nothing to do with James Fields and Kyle Rittenhouse, while his nonsense riles up their insanity and he builds a base out of it. He in fact has a whole lot to do with it.

Yes, he has certainly pulled the top off Pandora's box and allowed those kinds of demons to emerge and flourish.

The first day of trial adjourned early today because one of the jurors has a toothache. It would have adjourned early for Passover, but ended earlier than planned.

Of course it is! Without the sexual encounter, there's no reason or motive for the defendant to have done any of the things he was indicted for.

I'm not sure about that. Even if she was lying about the sexual encounter, he's still paying her to shut up, and it's the bookkeeping that's on trial.

But that's not the prosecution's theory of the case. The sexual encounter was not illegal and is not an element of any of the crimes charged. But the sexual encounter is the foundation for the entire prosecution. He falsified business records, illegally so, to cover up a sexual encounter.

During opening statements, the defense told the jury that there was no sexual encounter. If the defense can't prove that during the trial, and I don't know how it can without Trump himself testifying, the prosecution will rip the defense a new asshole during summation for failing to deliver on its promise to the jury.

She wasn't paid to stop spreading lies. Otherwise, Trump would have to pay a never ending line of women. They had sex. If push came to shove, she could describe his penis, which she already did many times.

If he denies it, it is a case of "he said-she said".
But she has described so much detail of the encounter (the room, what he said, what he wore) that she may have turned it into a believable "He said-she saw" case.
