He has been told that as a convicted felon he has to surrender all the guns he owns.
I guess that will keep people on 5th avenue safe.

Will the former president be able to vote for himself in the November election?

There seems to be a lot of gray area, but reviewing what I've found, regarding both the laws of the state where he's residing and the state where he's been convicted, the answer seems like it should be no, but is nonetheless going to be yes.

Unless he's incarcerated.

If he was black, FLorida would find a way, and SCOTUS would support it, to deny him his vote.

Meanwhile, all the polls overall, seem to suggest that Trump is ahead. Fucking scary. I can't fathom why Trump isn't like a zillion points behind. I guess most people are dumb. Got a better explanation?

Today in Nevada, a crucial swing state overflowing with service workers who rely on tips, Trump promised voters that as soon as he's elected, he'll pass legislation to not tax tips. And as soon as I heard that, I shuddered inside, the same way I did during the last Trump-Clinton debate when Trump promised to appoint SCOTUS justices that would overturn Roe v. Wade. I shuddered in deep dread back then because that resonated with me and I felt that it was very effective.

Certainly not all the polls.

Polls need to be taken with a grain of salt these days. Firstly, lots of people refuse to answer a number they don't know. Secondly, most of these polls are of 'registered voters' instead of 'likely voters'. Thirdly, national polls are utterly meaningless as our system is 50 state elections. Fourthly, Republicans like to put lots of polls in the field to skew the numbers their way. It's why poll aggregators like 538 got things wrong in 20 and 22.

My son is 28 and has never been polled. Ever. He sees a 714 or 901 or 847 area code and never answers.

Don't sweat the polls. Go TO the polls and make sure everyone you know does, too.

The tax on tips thing is a good hook in Nevada. Biden should come out and say he'll do it and pay for it with a tax on billionaires.

For what it's worth, he's leading in the electoral college polls, too. And in the swing state polls, or at least enough of them that if those polls were accurate, you should be very afraid.

His probation hearing was this morning. It was not telecast or recorded. The only output will be the Probation officer's report. In an untypical move, tRump's lawyer will be sitting in (it is by Zoom, not in person) to make sure he doesn't say anything outlandish.

Apparently the PO is a black woman. That must have been fun.

He won't express any remorse for the crimes because he thinks he didn't commit any. So that'll be an interesting note for sentencing.

Also- the usual Probation hearing is preceded by a mandatory drug test. The Zoom avoided that.
Hmmmm.

The legal case for sentencing DT to jail:
SOMETIMES THE LAW is complex and esoteric; other times it’s incredibly intuitive. The principles that govern sentencing are the latter. They are a distillation of commonly shared values in personal morality and public policy. As a former prosecutor and current defense attorney who has argued hundreds of sentencings, I have no reservations in saying that these principles demand a prison sentence for Donald Trump’s recent conviction.

Donald Trump in ALL the water, hot, cold or otherwise....

A proposed bill from a House Republican would rename coastal waters around the US after former president Donald Trump, whose administration rolled back dozens of environmental rules while he was in office.

Legislation from Florida Representative Greg Steube would rename the US Exclusive Economic Zone to the “Donald John Trump Exclusive Economic Zone of the United States.”

That area spans roughly 4.3 million nautical miles and “extends no more than 200 nautical miles from the territorial sea baseline and is adjacent to the 12 nautical mile territorial sea of the US” and its territories, according to the National Ocean Service.

And I propose a nicely padded room for Florida Representative Greg Steube.

I think it would be more appropriate to find the most fetid disgusting swamp in the country and name that for Donald Trump. "The Convicted Felon Donald J. Trump Fetid Swamp"

A Donald J. Trump High School without any books. How fitting.

The basketball team will have to wear these sneakers, which the players will be required to buy with their own money.
