Rock music quiz!

Post by Marshmallowmilkshake » Sat Feb 18, 2023 8:25 pm

We haven't had a music quiz in a while! These are the top 50 best-selling albums worldwide. Popped up in my TikTok feed today. Will reveal the source when we are done.

Some surprises. I didn't expect the size of the gap between No. 1 and No. 2. I knew No. 3 was a hit, but I didn't realize it was that big of a hit.

Usual rules about one guess at a time.

Good picks. Mr. Loaf, as we had to call him when I wrote for the Bridgeport Post, has slipped all the way down to No. 25.

Shockingly, Carole King's classic has dropped out of the top 50! And amazingly, I don't see a single Rolling Stones album on here! How can that be?

It's very hard to figger how digital sales and streams and streaming and such fit into the math, so it's hard to gauge how much juice to put behind 21st century music.

Any clues there?

Looks like digital and streaming is not included here. Only three of the albums are from 2000 and later, two of them by the same artist. The rest should be in the wheelhouse of this group. There are some soundtracks that might throw you off a little.

OE, I found another source that has Tapestry at 30 million, which would put it at No. 19. Not sure how this one missed that.

Little surprised about A Night At The Opera.

How about Back In Black, A/C D/C's first post Bon Scott biggie?
