My favorite group, Earth, Wind and Fire will be playing near me in Bridgeport this year.
The show will be hosted by one of my least favorite people - Derek Jeter and part of the gate will go toward his Jeter foundation.
What should I do?
What would you do?

Obviously go, I'm sure his foundation does good work too , you'll remember the gig, not Jeter

I originally wanted to post this as a "Dear Abby" parody.
Thanks
I'll probably go, but with mixed emotions, sort of like watching my mother-in-law go over a cliff in my new car.

Well, EWF will surely upstage him in any event!

EWF will play better because of the Captain's intangibles. So you got that working for you.

I don't know how many of the players are later arrivals, but EW&F have a long latter-day rep of being a ridiculously good live act.

EWF without Maurice is not really EWF imo. I saw them twice with him and
they were mind-blowingly fun. I'd go, I'm sure his stand in is really good...

(fuck Jeter, pretend you didn't know about that slant)

A friend of mine played, like, two gigs for them on drums, while their regular guy was on the injured list. He said they were so locked into each other, they barely needed a drummer. He only had to learn the mini-set — like 15 minutes of their four biggest hits — and it would have taken him months to learn their headline set.

But for that 15 minutes, the length of a Super Bowl halftime show, he felt like he was part of the best band in the world. They actually should get a Super Bowl gig.

Yes. We saw them a few years ago and they were terrific.

Throw a donation to the left of him and make him dive for it unsuccessfully.

My thoughts are with you 🎶🎵
Holdin' hands with your heart to see you 🎶🎵
Only blue talk and love, remember? 🎶🎵
How we knew love was here to stay! 🎶🎵

Is he saying that they knew they'd be together forever when they realized, in their suddenly blossoming trust and intimacy, that they both had a taste for talking dirty in public?

Phillip Bailey does Maurice's vocal parts in addition to the ones that were originally his.

And they're totally worth seeing.

When health problems initially robbed Maurice of the vitality to continue touring with the band, he slid over into a managerial role, recruiting the newer members, getting them better gigs, promoting the brand. The other members were pretty explicit in saying it was very much his baby until near the end, and for a while, there had been hope that he'd be able to rejoin them.
