I think some of you are also fans.
I keep getting bit by ticks and so I was looking up Darryl Hall and discovered he is suing John Oates!
How I Overlooked that story is beyond me.

The only thing I heard following the initial announcement of legal briefs flying around was a clip from an interview Hall was doing with someone.
When that person referred to Oates as his 'musical partner' Hall interrupted with an indignant, 'You think John Oates is my musical partner?!? He's
my business partner, that's it!'
So clearly things are a bit frosty these days. I don't think it's reached Simon and Garfunkel levels as that long simmering on-again/off-again
feud has a lot more personal beef to it and their partnership was also much shorter and therefore represents a much smaller percentage of
their careers so they are less tied together financially as compared to H & O.

All I've heard in a radio show was Hall is trying to stop Oates from selling his stake in a joint business venture , speculation was about their back catalog, but also included trademarks, personal name and likeness rights, record royalty income, and assets for their website and social media platform.

Saw them live here in Syracuse, maybe ten summers ago, at a beautiful outdoor venue overlooking Onondaga Lake. They were great.
Too bad musicians have to have so much ego

That all makes sense. H & O generally wrote separately but likely published as a duo (a la Lennon/McCartney) and of course there's a trend towards
aging artists cashing in on their long ago work by selling it in parts or entirely [Dylan, Bruce, Nicks, others]. Get paid now with a lump sum rather
than continuing to license it piecemeal yourself.
