I thought he'd withstand the storm. I also thought Senga would be back in a few days.

I'm watching the game and I'm surprised Gary and Ron haven't mentioned it yet.

Its a damn shame that a man who gave a half century of service to this nation will be remembered for a two hour debate debacle.

But i think this is a potentially pivotal moment: I don't think any party will ever nominate an octogenarian and Trump is likely the last 70 year old to ever run. And i think that's a good thing.

As a younger man I found it exciting when a Clinton/Obama had the balls to say "I want to be president" as opposed to a Biden or Sanders who said (seemingly) "I deserve to be president."

I love Joe B and thought he did great things. I despise Don T. I hoped the next president would be someone other than either of those two---here's the chance I've been hoping would come.

Yeah, I'd like to hear the reasoning with keeping his withdrawal separate from his endorsement. It should have been one smooth play.

Is Keith in the booth today? If I'm Gary Cohen I wouldn't go anywhere near politics with Keith Hernandez next to me on a live mic.

Now he'll be remembered as the man who put country over himself and saved America.
Unless, of course, the GOP wins and they re-write all the books.

Keith is in the house.

I don't think they even brought up the presidential shooting, which occurred while they were on the air.

I'm just thankful that the paralysis has ended. Kamala will rack up the endorsements in the next few days, and she'll be nominated on the first ballot, as virtually all delegates are Biden delegates, who'll do what he wants.

She can run head-to-head against Donald Trump tomorrow.

Strong disagree. This cements his legacy. Staying in would have slowly tore it down win or lose.

If Biden drops out a year ago is Kamala the Dems' eventual choice?
I suspect no.

That would be interesting.
It'll split the party to a certain degree as the progressive wing considers him to be essentially a right wing extremist and the racial identity crowd will push back against a white male pushing aside a (partial) black female.
But Manchin can argue that he can better attract the Republican and independent middle who don't like Trump but are so wary of the Dem left that they'll hold their noses while pulling the lever for Agent Orange in order to keep out what they consider to be a too-far-left candidate. Pull that group away and you strip Trump down to his hard-core floor which, by itself, isn't enough to win nationwide.

It won't split anything. Manchin won't get any traction at all. All 50 state parties have unanimously agreed to back Harris. Shapiro and Newsom endorsed her this afternoon. The others will follow soon. Like a lot of Manchin things, this'll disappear in a puff of smoke. He's an attention hog.

Would Harris have been the nominee if Biden bailed a year ago? Who knows. But he didn't bail then and the party is coalescing behind her now. So off we go, the prosecutor against the convicted criminal.

And they raised over $30 million on ActBlue in the first 6 hours after the announcement.

It'll be split about 50 to 1.

But sure, why not give the vice president a warmup fight?

It's still a month to the convention. Stuff can happen.
