Airliner in the Potomac

Post by Edgy MD » Wed Jan 29, 2025 10:46 pm

American Airlines flight from Kansas (Wichita, apparently) has gone down in The Potomac River, apparently after hitting a US Army helicopter.

Sixty passengers and four crew on board.

So how long before President Caligula politicizes this tragedy and blames the crash on Democrats?

No survivors expected.

We've had a really strong run with regard to commercial air safety in recent years. Terrible to lose an airliner to a collision in what has to be some of the most controlled airspace in the country.

My first thought was ... will blame DEI for the crash. This was a tragedy, but that doesn't mean he won't wring every drop of politics out of it that he can.

Trump Seeks, Without Evidence, to Blame D.E.I. and Democrats for the Crash

President Trump’s remarks, suggesting that diversity in hiring and other Biden administration policies somehow caused the disaster, reflected his instinct to immediately frame major events through his political or ideological lens.

I'm going to start a conspiracy theory.
He was nominated to gain the presidency.
Now elected, his MAGA cabinet will oust him under Article 25* and install JD Vance (who could have never won the election) as president.
And they will continue to implement Project 2025 under someone who is able to read it.

I know. crazy.
But so is he.

Later

* = the cabinet can vote to oust the President if he is incapable of executing the duties of the job.

Well, we're about as far afield of this crash as we can get.

Here are two more young skaters who were on the flight — Sean Kay and Angela Yang:

They are so young that, at the end of the program, instead of throwing flowers on the ice, their supporters throw them stuffies. When they get to the bench to await their scores, they start comparing the stuffies and offering to swap with each other.

Life doesn't make any sense. I'm old enough to know that but when you're living your day to day life, you kinda think about morals and karma and what should and shouldn't happen.

And then the worst person in the world is elected President, while beautiful young souls like this lose their lives in an instant.

There really is no such thing as God. At least not how we describe him. If there is a God, he's one fucked up dude.

It seems more likely to me that they will limp along for two years and then do this, which would allow for (gulp) a ten year JD Vance presidency. Luckily, I'll be older and closer to the sweet relief of death at that point.

I'm not sure that the toadies in his Cabinet would ever go for that, but who knows. Crazier things have happened. Crazier things seem to happen every day.

It all belongs here, right where it is. When the President chimes in on this tragedy, it's news and it's relevant. Besides, these are not normal times. The President has infiltrated every aspect of every-day discussion. And it should be that way. Really. This is no different than if the ignoramuses of this country voted Charles Manson to be their President. Or John Gotti. Or Adolf Hitler. This country voted for someone who is so obviously a sadist and a psychopath, a madman who more than anything else, enjoys inflicting pain on others. If Hitler came back to life and was voted President of the USA, we'd be talking about Hitler in every thread, too. As we should be.

I'm sorry too if someone here is sick and tired of reading about the madman in the White House. But that's on the ignoramuses who voted for him in the first place, not us forum members.

Caligula was actually considered a good ruler before something flipped and he went nuts.

I'd say a more apt comparison might be Nero. The elites and nobles hated him, but the masses (or large swathes of the masses) loved him.
