Force of July is great - and funny that the photographer in the background is checking her shot and missing the better one leaping before her!

I dunno, for a non-action shot, the look on Verlander's face is perfect for the situation.

It's historically interesting in that the future is captured in Francisco Testosteronio flying through the air while the present in the person of Canha is firmly fixed to the ground, in danger of getting plowed over, and only has a few weeks left in uniform.

I barely recognized him as Verlander. His shoulders are so raised and stiffened on his inhale that he looks like an older guy going through a health crisis. Newsday's inking also gives him a jaundiced complexion, which happens to a lot of their sweaty athletic shots, whether guys are black, white, or other. Newsday needs to turn back the SALLOW dial at their print shop.

Compare the Post cover, where Álvarez, Canha, and the photographer in the background all have a healthy hint of pink.

If they would've made Álvarez's bat look like a light saber, would it have been better or worse?
great googly moogly!
