Mass Shootings
Re: Mass Shootings
I'm disgusted by anyone who still feels a need to vocally support the rights of gun ownership. Fuck your Second Amendment.
Oh, this is your hobby, and you'll be mad that you can shoot 300 bullets in 9 seconds at a paper target? Get a canoe or a fishing pole.
Oh, you're worried you won't be able to defend your property against, who exactly?
I won't barter, I won't parlay, I won't try to see it from the other side. It's only and always a big old fuck.

Re: Mass Shootings
As a once avid hunter, I am a rarity amongst my fellow hunters. I believe their should be thorough background checks for all firearm purchases. There should be cooling off period (3 days is reasonable to me) before you can actually take your purchased firearm home. And lastly, no one outside of military and special law enforcement units, need semi-automatic weapons w/ large magazines. Such weapons are not made for sport or hunting, they are designed for one purpose, to kill people.
The NRA is such a powerful (i.e. wealthy) lobby, that common sense laws to limit access to firearms may never happen.

Re: Mass Shootings
How about gun policy reform advocates change their strategy and all join the NRA, millions strong, and elect new board members before anybody figures out what's going on?

This is so sad.
The agency that tracks school shootings is losing federal funding.

What did they do or track that we can't do by using a search engine?
How many employees, how much did the head of the agency make?

Re: Mass Shootings
search engines aren't databases.
It's one employee of a contractor that maintains a database. It's basically pennies.
The guy says he's maintaining in independently now, and has all the data still, so at least it's not disappearing before a government clearance of some kind, to be white-washed.

Oh, so it's not really an agency or a story. Questions withdrawn.

A jury awarded the families of the Sandy Hook shootings over $45 million in punitive damages from shooting denier and conspiracy spouter Alex Jones.
The fucker is saying he can't pay, but his broadcasting and other companies are worth over $200 million.

Re: Mass Shootings
Alex Jones has been ordered to pay $965 million to the Sandy Hook families.

And if that leaves him a penniless and broken man, it wouldn't be penalty enough.

He's had 10 years to hide his money, and I'm sure he has. He's already declared bankruptcy, so I doubt they'll see much. Still, if they can make the rest of his life a living hell I'm okay with that.
Even duct tape can't fix stupid. But it can sure muffle the sound.
Re: Mass Shootings
I wonder how capable our system is of discouraging this sort of action when he's on the air spreading shit at the very time the verdict is read, mocking the whole proceedings.

Re: Mass Shootings
I have seen reports stating his net worth is between $135 mil and $260 mil. Unfortunately, as Lefty stated he has had ample time to hide and shelter his worth. Low life scumbag that he is, he has filed bankruptcy. The families are not likely receive even a pittance of the awarded judgements.

St Louis. Two dead and also the shooter. It’s like it’s not even news anymore.

Re: Mass Shootings
A 14 year old went on a rampage in a Raleigh, NC neighborhood last week. He first shot and then stabbed multiple times his 16 year old brother mortally wounding him. He then ran through the neighborhood wounded a lady in her driveway, fatally shot a woman and her dog on their front porch, shot and killed an of duty police officer in his car,. He then headed into a greenway adjoining the neighborhood where he shot and killed a lady walking her dog (this time the dog got away), and lastly he fatally shot a female jogger. Upon the arrival of Raleigh Police answering the 911 calls, the 14 year old assailant opened fire, wounding one office before being wounded himself and taken into custody.
He managed to kill 5 people, 1 dog, and wounded 2 other people before being taken into custody. The report said it was the 546th mass shooting in the US this year. That is an average of roughly 1.8 a day.
This kind of stupid crap is so prevalent that we only hear of a fraction of the incidences. Still our politicians won't do anything to regulate the types of guns that can be legally sold and/or more tightly regulate who can purchase them. A sad indictment of American society and our political system.

Re: Mass Shootings
I had heard about the St. Louis incident but not the Raleigh one. Americans and the media are inured to these events now.
Re: Mass Shootings
Any solutions? I'm all ears.
Re: Mass Shootings
There are no solutions, and things will probably get worse.
Actually, they are getting worse. Daily.

should probably start by repealing (or revising) the second amendment.

Oh, I believe there are solutions. I'm certain of it.

Re: Mass Shootings
I'm not apathetic, I'm a realist.
One side isn't going to budge one millimeter on the issues (and really this
shouldn't be in a mass-shooting thread but rather a gun control/reform type
thread) and one side pussy foots around the issues every single time.
Not a way to change laws and certainly no way to amend the constitution.
