Never saw DECEPTION (at least I don't think so) so I can't vote for or against that one, which leaves TITANIC as the runaway choice of this group.
I mean, it wasn't a terrible movie but it wasn't even close to great and the other three* were either great or really good.

The best part of Titanic
(Spoiler Alert)
Was watching that frozen body floating by.
That punk didn't deserve to be on the upper decks, mixing with the upper crust, in the first place.

Titanic had gorgeous costumes

Soundtrack barfed

Jack and Rose were cute

I absolutely hated anything that had to do with the present day. It was horrid and unnecessary especially that fat prick

Titanic was a terrible movie. But I've also never seen Deception and I would rank them the same as FK

I never was as impressed with Sawshank as practically everyone who saw it. I think there are a lot of people who know Titanic sucked. Goodfellas and Jaws are great. I never saw the other one

I never saw Shawshank or Apt Pupil. I was a fan of Stephen King's Different Seasons, which was the source of both of those plus Stand By Me. I realized that while I grew indifferent to Stephen King's writing as a teenager, he's better in his shorter work. So while he's seemingly a non-stylist as a novelist, he's a stylist in his novellas, and an excellent stylist in his short stories.

Either that, or his he's exercising an anti-style style all the time, but it comes through more conspicuously in his shorter work. Anyhow, I try to stay away from films when I have an attachment to the source material. People in my age contingent went nuts for Stand by Me, and I didn't want to go through a similar disconnect.

Goodfellas is one of those films I've never actually sat through but I feel like I've seen most of it in bits and pieces here and there. It's not a cool thing to admit, but there it is.

Jaws is terrific. For most of my life, if you asked me to name my favorite movie, that would probably have been it. It's a damned master class, and I wish filmmakers would stop referencing it and start learning from it. Jerks.

Agreed. I wore through my copies of Different Seasons, Skeleton Crew and Bachman Books in high school. His novels after the first few became formulaic and and way too long for my taste.

If I knew nothing about any of these movies except box office numbers and 11 Oscar wins, I'd expect Titanic to be hands-down the best before I watched any of them. And that would be incorrect.

That he still has a long way to go to match Kevin Kostner?
If you haven't fallen asleep in the middle of at least one Kevin Kostner movie, then you have a severe case of insomnia.

The worst thing about TITANIC for me was seeing in a theater behind a pair of moms and a couple of kids. Prior to the movie starting Mom A was saying to B how, in conjunction with
the popularity of the movie, they were teaching the story of the Titanic in her (8 y/o, maybe 10?) daughter's classroom. But after multiple whines of 'Where's Rose, where's Jack?' from
the kid during each scene that didn't feature Leo and Kate's characters, what I realized is that they weren't teaching the actual story of the Titanic to the kids they were teaching them
the fictional story embedded within the movie. After all, why teach history when you can teach sappy love stories and call it history.
No wonder why we've raised a bunch of fuckin' idiots in this country.

My audience was mostly dudes hyperventilating over baby Leonardo.

I hated virtually every foot of it. The hype was so hypey, we got well into it before either myself or then-future-wife could turn to the other one and start cracking wise. I was completely jaw-on-the-floor disengaged while thinking she was enraptured and just assumed I was a cynical jerk. All the while she was thinking the opposite — that I'm in Cinematic Heaven and she's clearly an awful person for not taking the trip with me.

The best part is, that when we finally looked at each other and recognized that our revulsion was mutual, one of us said to the other, "Where's that fucking iceberg?" but we can't agree on who actually said it, because we were both thinking it.

And yeah, Avatar did less than nothing for me also. WtF with that guy?

I think I may be the only person in the world that has never seen Titanic. Not in its entirety anyway.

I think the soundtrack was enough convince me I never wanted to see this movie.

On one hand, I envy you. You are a blessed person.

On the other hand, a Titanic viewing dangles over you, like the sword of Damocles, waiting patiently to puncture your soul.
