Me too, although for some reason it took me forever to get from step two to three despite having three spots locked in.
Had the same trouble on Saturday (for par). Just not 'seeing it' lately.

What the Times likes most is that millions of people go to it every day. I did tire of Wordle in the past because it was like Ozzie Smith fielding grounders.batmagadanleadoff wrote: ↑Tue May 02, 2023 1:04 pm I think that the toughest Wordle puzzles involve words that have counterpart words that are spelled exactly the same but for one identically positioned letter. An example would be "water", whose spelling is identical to "later" or "tater", but for the first character.
If you're stuck on that first character and haven't yet eliminated the "l" or "t", you might have to make up to three guesses to solve the puzzle for "water". But if you have less than three remaining guesses, you're at risk of losing that game.
At this point, solving the puzzle is 100% luck, including whether or not the lone letter you need to solve is the word's first letter, or second, or fourth, etc.
What's great about Wordle, from the NYT's POV, I think, is that it's a relatively easy game to play yet leaves its players with the sense that they're playing or solving a much more difficult puzzle. Players would lose interest if the game felt too easy to play or was much more difficult than it actually is. Wordle seems to strike the right balance.
