On second thought, how is that offensive? Maybe Kershaw would ban SNL too over some skit he doesn't like. Wanna know what's really offensive? When this Supreme Court imposes some religious rule on everybody all because some people take the fucking bible for literal truth. This is just an attempt to stifle an opposing viewpoint.

And I just heard that Conservative-owned Chick-Fil-A is being attacked because they hired a diversity coordinator. (I didn't hear many other details)
This anti-pride movement is getting crazy and not going away.
Can one of the mods split this off to a separate thread - maybe in the non- baseball forum?

Why? Because if this was in the politics thread, you wouldnt see it? It belongs here anyways. It's a baseball discussion and Trevor Williams made it so. And if he wasnt an MLBer, he wouldn't have six followers and nobody would give a flying fuck about what he thinks.

It can become a culture wars vent at times

Not saying I'm right in any way at all but it makes me uncomfortable to read here at CPF on the baseball side

Poor Trevor Williams. Even I've got 137 followers.

How sad and sorry is that?

Fine, but that's exactly what Trevor Williams did: he leveraged his baseball clout and baseball itself to make a socio-political-religious statement that had little to do with actual baseball. And what is he offended at, when you come right down to it -- that not everybody believes what he believes?

And what point is that? I think people like Williams and Kershaw use religion as a shield, but also as a sword, depending on whatever suits them at the moment. Nobody's allowed to criticize it or parody it because it's religion. But then they have no problem forcing some employee to jump hoops to get some medicine that's legal, FDA approved and promised to them by their insurer all because of their employer's religious beliefs. Re-read that Trevor Williams post. He starts off by recognizing that a baseball game is a place where all should be included. Then he goes on for a zillion parageaphs about how that group shouldn't be included, without even bothering to explain why, other than to state, in conclusory fashion, that they offend his religion. Live life and you're inevitably gonna get offended. That's life. Everybody's different. So what's his point? That they should be banned from Dodger games because they're not like him? Most people used to think the Earth was flat, too. Believing that doens't make it true, no matter how many people believed it.

Former Met Jake Marisnick is now a Tiger, replacing rookie stud Riley Greene.

So the point is to punish this group? They shouldn't have a platform to express their worldview? But Kershaw and Wiliams should be free to promote and tout their religion whenever and wherever they please? Is that the point?

The more I read this, the nuttier it gets. So Jays pitcher Anthony Bass posts a video claiming that according to his stupid fucking bible, the LGBTQ community is "evil and demonic". I guess Bass doesn't know anything about how his religion is rife with gay pastors and priests who've been sexually molesting and abusing thousands and thousands and thousands of kids and teens for longer than I've been alive. Oh, the audacity of those "Sisters" to mock his religion. What an ignoramus scumbag.

That's right. He apologized only to save his own ass. If he was as good as Kershaw or had Kershaw's legacy or Kershaw's contract, he wouldn't have had to take back anything.

There really is a why behind it. I wish those who are upset at the choice of the sisters' clothing realized they didn't just pick nuns' garb because it's extra hot to wear on a summer day. For a long ass time, religion has been used to deny, persecute, oppress and vilify LGBTQ+ folk, and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are doing good and important work for groups of people that some (not all, but a lot) of churches and religious people just wouldn't touch. There's an opportunity to say "I don't like it, but I get it" and do better to accept and serve all of god's children if that's your space. There would be no "drag nuns" if there wasn't a hypocrisy to fight against.

I'm with Sister Jeannine.

New Reds phenom, Elle De La Cruz blistered Noah, or at least virtually every pitch he threw for a strike last night.
When did the choices get so hard
With so much more at stake
Life gets mighty precious
When there's less of it to waste
