The Giant-Red I chose had Metly connections (and a .1% overlap with others who choose him).

I think we may have chosen the same guy.

Yeah, the GiantRed I thought about one moment too late certainly was Metly.

Cursed late-night gaming.

First time I played officially. I should have swept the board but I only got 8 out of 9, because I didn't know all of the rules and so I was penalized one guess. Maybe youse don't know this rule that tripped me up, either. If so, this'll be a lesson. Here's what happened:

I was studying the grid and noticed that Joe Morgan was a correct answer to five of the nine boxes. So I thought I'd answer Morgan wherever appropriate. But when I tried to enter Morgan a second time, I got a message that I had already used Morgan and was docked one guess. So I was only allowed to make eight guesses. Apparently, you're not allowed to repeat a player in a given game.

Here's how I did:

Reds-Astros: Joe Morgan (46%)
Reds-Giants: George Foster (1%)
Reds-MVP: Johnny Bench (18%)

Pirates-Astros: Milt May (0.04%!)
Pirates-Giants: Rick Reuschel (0.3%)
Pirates-MVP: Dick Groat (0.6%)

30 SB-Astros: BLOCKED -- (Would've answered Cesar Cedeno if not Morgan)
30 SB-Giants: Bobby Bonds (9%)
30 SB-MVP: Maury Wills (0.6%)

I got 8 of 9 today, still have not gotten the entire grid. Stupid mistake, too, picking Kershaw as a Dodger with 3000 Ks with other obvious choices available to me.

man, i'm struggling to connect teams to players. just utterly failing to connect the dots. there's probably a hundred guys who played for both the dodgers and the white sox, and i cannot think of one. not even the obvious choices!

That's one of the few I got. Living in Chicago when they traded for a hot young player from the Dodgers helped. Also got a Brewer/Yankee picked by 0.02%.

In general, though, the two-team player boxes are killers.

The two-team boxes are hard, but a Met link helps. If I can work out a guy playing with one team before he became a Met, and the other team after, I can ...

For me, that was the toughest box. I eventually came up with a correct answer, but that was the last box I checked -- it took me the longest.

I got eight of nine today. Couldn't get a White Sox/Dodger.

Yesterday was my first Immaculate Grid:

Reds/Astros: Joe Morgan 41%
Reds/Giants: George Foster 0.9%
Reds MVP: Johnny Bench 17%
Pirates/Astros: Oliver Perez 0.2%
Pirates/Giants: Barry Bonds 47%
Pirates MVP: Willie Stargell 11%
Astros/30SB: Cesar Cedeno 1%
Giants/30SB: Bobby Bonds 9%
30SB/MVP: Willie Mays 2% (How does this app not have a photo of Willie Mays???)

i find myself wishing i had more of a comprehensive knowledge of loogies, as i figure they tick a lot of the boxes on multi-team players. granted, i whiffed on a bunch of met-connected correct answers today, so really, I just suck at this.

The American League Central can be an alien landscape. There's one big mass of players that I'm sure played for the White Sox or the Tigers, or maybe the Indians.

Wait, there are no Indians anymore. And are the Astros in the West or the Central, anyhow?

That one I did get - though I stared for a stupid long time at the Brewer/Yankee overlap square (ultimately leaving it blank and opting instead to make a 2nd, accurate guess on the Dodger with 3000 Ks). And then when I saw the most common response I was like "Well duh!"

I got a six today. Had two wrong guesses at the Royals pitcher with 200 strikeouts and one wrong guess at the Cleveland/Kansas City player. Never even had a chance to guess at the Seattle/Boston or the Cleveland/Texas guy.
