Once a Met, Not a Met in 2023
Re: Once a Met, Not a Met in 2023
The Angels have purchased the contract of Daniel Murphy from the Ducks.
Hope for the best. Expect the Mets.
Re: Once a Met, Not a Met in 2023
Whoah! From a Mets old-timer's game to the Anaheim Angels!

I hope he tells Ohtani how great it is to be a Met.

My only interest in Ohtani is in seeing him sportingly but thoroughly defeated by the Mets on the field of baseball.
Re: Once a Met, Not a Met in 2023
I saw that the deal Murphy signed with the Angels was a minor league deal.

Steve Cohen wouldn't have let Murphy go away.

Wilson Ramos quacks like a Duck on Long Island.
Hope for the best. Expect the Mets.

The NL West is getting Metsier. On the same day the Rockies convince Chris Flexen to pitch up in the air, the Dodgers sign Jake Marisnick. Marisnick will have another opportunity to hear fans at Citi Field this weekend, something he couldn’t do amid the cardboard cutout motif of 2020.
Hope for the best. Expect the Mets.

[nice story] There is a really wonderful college kid who house sits for us and is a bat boy for the AAA Isotopes. Yesterday, he sent a couple pics to me of him and Met Daniel Murphy, a personally autographed baseball card (in Mets uni) from Murph, and he added that he generously tipped him $50. [/nice story]
great googly moogly!

[exclamation]That's a nice story![/exclamation]
You should let your house to Isotopes when you're away.

Amed Rosario, once a Guardian, no longer a Guardian in 2023.
Hope for the best. Expect the Mets.

Guardians reportedly getting Old Friend Noah Syndergaaed from Dodgers for Old Friend Amed Rosario.
Hope for the best. Expect the Mets.

2019-2020 Met Justin Wilson was all set to finally become a 2023 Brewer. But after the long road returning from ACL surgery, Craig Counsell signaled for him to come in from the bullpen and he was seen holding his arm after injuring it on his last warmup pitch.
Re: Once a Met, Not a Met in 2023
2019 Met Aaron Altherr has been with the Tri-City Valley Cats of the Frontier League this year. He's hitting .278 with 9 home runs in 54 games so far.
2017 Mets Nori Aoki is, at 43, astonishingly still active in Japan, hitting .272 with a .383 OBP in 180 ABs for the Yakult Swallows.

Re: Once a Met, Not a Met in 2023
Javier Baez, who was brought on board to help lead the club to the playoffs in 2021, but who instead caused headaches, is back with Detroit this year, hitting .225 in 391 ABs. He cost us first round pick Peter Crow-Armstrong, who is cranking at Double-A right now. Baez really wasn't bad with New York, statistically, as he hit .361 over his final 97 ABs with the team.
Anthony Banda, who was one of a million no-names the Mets used on their pitching staff in 2021, is currently in the Nationals minor league system. He's made 10 appearances for them at the big league level this year, posting a 6.43 ERA in 7 innings. His mark is 7.91 at Triple-A.
Jacob Barnes, who was also a member of that 2021 Mets team, has pitched in the Rangers, Phillies and, most recently, Cardinals systems this year. The Cards just signed him a couple weeks ago. While ERAs are elevated across Triple-A this year, his is a tidy 3.10 in 40 2/3 innings so far.

Astros DFA'ed Blake Taylor, the lefty we got in the Ike Davis trade way back when.
BRING HIM HOME, BILLY

Re: Once a Met, Not a Met in 2023
We also traded Taylor to the Astros, with another solid prospect named Kenedy Corona, for Jake Marisnick. That deal has the potential to blow up in our faces big time.
