IGT 7/18 Mets vs White Sox Carrasco vs Giolito 7:10

Post by ashie62 » Tue Jul 18, 2023 3:40 pm

7:10 start

Both starters are oft discussed trade targets

The White Sox are a team that can be swept and the Mets need to make that happen yesterday

Between the west coast games, AS Break, Apple games, FOX games, rain delays, and just plain old off days, this feels like it's the first SNY 7:10 start in more than a month.

His last issues were groin related.

I don't recall why he was scratched last time, but I believe it
was migraine related and tonight is migraine related.

The Mets offense with leadoff walks from Nimmo is the right kind of Mets offense.

Mets now leading 4-0.

They'll be losing 6-4 by the 3rd inning.

Four Five 1st inning runs, the biggest of their season.
The Braves put up those kind of 1st inning numbers seemingly twice a week.

And on cue, the Braves put up a five spot in bottom 1st vs the DBacks
5-2 heading to the 2nd

And since I know you all are on the edge of your seats awaiting the actual stats on this ... the Braves have scored
- 3 runs in the 1st inning four times this season
- 4 runs eight times
- five runs three times (including tonight)
- six runs once
- seven runs once

So in those 17 games alone ATL has more than twice the number of 1st inning runs (72) than the Mets do in all 90+ of their games.(31)
Braves now have 100 1st inning runs in 2023

Will the Mets continue to toy with us like tonight to the point that they neither buy nor sell at the trade deadline?
