I only got a six this time. I whiffed on the entire bottom row with the Rockies.

Tigers/Pirates: Richie Hebner 1%
Tigers/Reds: Ray Knight 0.4%
Tigers/200K: Mickey Lolich 3%
Rangers/Pirates: Al Oliver 6%
Rangers/Reds: Jim Kern 0.2%
Rangers/200K: Nolan Ryan 72%
Rockies/Pirates: --
Rockies/Reds: --
Rockies/200K: --

Turns out only three Rockies pitchers have had 200 strikeouts, and I wasn't likely to have guessed any of them.

I think 7 is my threshold for "I did OK at this."

DET/PIT - Hank Greenberg 3%
DET/CIN - Sean Casey 17%
DET/200K - Max Scherzer 19%
TEX/PIT -
TEX/CIN - Josh Hamilton 34%
TEX/200K - Nolan Ryan 70%
COL/PIT - Dotel 7%
COL/CIN -
COL/200K - Pedro Astacio 4%

i've conceded that i'm usually terrible at immaculate grid.

instead, i've taken to using it as a rabbit hole to dive into, to find the guy who can fill the most squares all by his lonesome.

today, that guy is victor santos who, despite contributing -0.8 WAR over 7 big league seasons, pitched for 7 teams over those 7 years, including, notably, the pirates, reds, tigers, rockies, and rangers, allowing him to be the correct answer for a whopping 6 squares! impressive! sadly, he stayed well below the 200k threshold at each of his many stays.

there were a few players who filled 4 squares each, including darnell coles, todd van poppel, denys reyes, and kip wells. none of these interesting players threw 200 strikeouts for their teams, either.

nobody was able to fill 4 squares by snagging teamwise combinations and a 200k season (or two) either. at least, not that i could find.

Yet another eight for me. I picked Don Buford for the Red Sock/Oriole. I should have picked Don Baylor. Or Damon Buford. Or Damon Baylor, if such a person exists.

White Sox/Red Sox: Carlton Fisk 15%
White Sox/Braves: Claudell Washington 0.5%
White Sox/Cy Young: LaMarr Hoyt 24%
Orioles/Red Sox: --
Orioles/Braves: Davey Johnson 3%
Orioles/Cy Young: Jim Palmer 87%
20 wins/Red Sox: Cy Young 3%
20 wins/Braves: Warren Spahn 5%
20 wins/Cy Young: Tom Seaver 2%

This one was the easiest one ever. Took me less than a minute to solve it. No post '69 expansion teams and two easy statistical/award categories. I think that this is the third time I've used Earl Williams.

I used Scherzer in the middle box and Pedro in the middle right. That left me struggling for a 3000 strikeout dodger and I learned that Kershaw is less than 100 short :(

Randy Johnson could have fit in five or six boxes today.

My 3000K Dodger was Don Sutton. Slow and steady wins the race.

Rodney's a good player to get down pat for IG. He played for 12 teams, but most importantly, at least for me anyways, he played for three of the four 1990s expansion teams, including the dreaded Rays.
Yeah I feel like i'm pretty solid on my Marlins and Diamondbacks and really the NL as a whole from 1995 - present mostly because my long running Fantasy Baseball league is NL-only. The American League is a black box sometimes.
Get to know Chad Qualls, too. He played for 12 teams. And he's the only major leaguer in baseball history to have played for all four of the 1990s expansion teams.

Another eight. I couldn't think of a Cub with 3,000 hits. My guess of Ernie Banks failed.

Phillies/Indians: Jim Thome 29%
Phillies/Cubs: Ryne Sandberg 11%
Phillies/MVP: Mike Schmidt 28%
A's/Indians: Bartolo Colon 8%
A's/Cubs: Dennis Eckersley 8%
A's/MVP: Reggie Jackson 15%
3000 hits/Indians: Nap Lajoie 21%
3000 hits/Cubs: --
3000 hits/MVP: Willie Mays 6%

I was able to grab Cap Anson for that square, because I know he played for a million years, but I came up short on Nap LaJoie.

You need to adjust your thinking for those sorts of career records.
They ask for Cubs so the reflex move is to start thinking of long-term Cub HoF'ers like Banks, Santo, or Billy Williams ... none of whom reached 3,000 hits
But Lou Brock did, even if only 310 of them were as a Cub
