Defendant Donald was just indicted again in Federal Court for efforts to undo the 2020 election loss.

Details to follow.

Trump alone is indicted. Leaving aside the numerous co-conspirators is a tactic to speed up the trial process. They might be indicted separately later.

There won't be any Florida Trump judge shenanigans in DC. Let's hope for a speedy trial. 2024 is sure going to be interesting.

I'm hoping that one or more of the co-conspirators has completely flipped and are willing to testify. Trumps main defense is likely to be that he was listening to his wonderful team of lawyers and consultants and this is all their fault.

He has a great ability to surround himself with people who are utterly reliant on him, and it's going to take a lot to get them to break that instinct of loyalty born of necessity.

I invite you to look up Matthew Calamari some time. He was a nobody who then-Citizen Trump plucked off the security staff of the US Open decades ago, impressed to see him doing his work with violent enthusiasm. He probably was going to be fired for beating down a patron, but instead became Trump's body man and has spoken openly about his willingness to kill or die at Trump's command. And his loyalty has made him a vice president of the whole organization.

The amount of psychological breaks that guy would have to go through before flipping on his boss would be enormous. And at this point, he'd probably happily spend the rest of his life in jail to guarantee what he sees as the promise of a lifetime of comfort for his kids and his kids' kids.

But the things he knows could get the former president convicted twenty times over.

The fact that Mark Meadows is nowhere to be seen in the unindicted co-conspirator list tells you he has flipped and is cooperating. There's no one closer to the president than his chief of staff.

I want this trial televised, although I doubt it will be. The beauty of the Jan 6 Committee was the televised hearings. The witnesses themselves laying it all out, and every one of them Republicans. Not seeing the trial will feed the MAGA conspiracy base. Yes, I know they'll deny it anyway, but the people not willing to swallow the Kool-Aid will know it was done on the up-and-up. Court sketch artists and transcripts can't do that.

Yeah, that's one reason that getting elected president was the worst thing that ever happened to him. Among all the supplicants and immigrants and people-way-underqualified-for-their-jobs that he liked to make utterly reliant on him in exchange for their loyalty, the job forced into his orbit the occasional seasoned professional who had plenty of non-Trump gigs on their résumé, who could let the Trump ship sink and sail away without him.

Unindicted co-conspirator #1 dances for a future pardon. Go to the 3:29 mark. Rudy Giuliani on the latest Trump indictment. He is so gone. What an embarrassment.

So at least one report has Trump all pissed off that the judge in his indictment hearing the other day kept referring to him as Mr. Trump rather than his preferred President Trump.
Apparently this is a big deal to him and the source described him as being 'sour and surly' for the remainder of the day over it.

I'll bet anything that he was steaming mad throughout his arraignment and mentally plotting his revenge against that magistrate judge if and when he gets the chance. "Oooh. I'm gonna get you. Who the fuck do you think you are talking like that to me? Do you know who I am? You'll find out."

Judge Cannon ruled against the DOJ, which might lead to her removal from the case.
Astunning new ruling on Monday by U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida Judge Aileen Cannon that would expose secret grand jury testimony is grounds for the Department of Justice to call for her removal from overseeing the 40-count indictment filed against Donald Trump.

That is the opinion of former U.S. Attorney Joyce Vance after Cannon questioned "the legal propriety of using an out-of-district grand jury proceeding" and struck two sealed motions filed by prosecutors pursuing the former president over the stolen government documents he was hoarding at his Mar-a-Lago resort.

As per CNBC,
Former President Donald Trump said he expects to be hit with new criminal charges next week.
He pointed to Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who led an investigation of the efforts by Trump and his allies to overturn his loss to President Joe Biden in Georgia's 2020 presidential election.

A lot of concerned journalists have suggested that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis might aim too high and go for a broad set of racketeering charges that will be a tougher case to make, and possibly undermine her own case, but also somehow, the federal cases as well.

I'm not sure how much coordination these prosecutors have, or how much they are supposed to have.

The other shoe is whether the other swing states that he pressured will bring charges after DA Willis does.

The grand jury in Atlanta has just handed down 10 indictments.
Details expected in "three hours".

Been flipping between Mets and Atlanta.

If they had a pitch clock, we'd probably see those indictments in less than two hours.
