This is my favorite one as there's no federal pardon that looms over it. I only can hope that all of the other states join in and indict him as well, as I'm sure the attempted coup in Georgia was a scripted set of steps taken in Arizona, Wisconsin, Michigan etc.

It's worth noting that while he and his felonious cronies were busy trying to subvert an election that they clearly lost by millions of votes, that a thousand Americans were also dying each day from COVID while they made no comments on the situation or any attempts to alleviate the experiences of Americans suffering through months 9-12 of a global pandemic.

Fuck them.

Shamelessly stolen from elsewhere....

(To the music of 'Me and Julio’/Paul Simon)

When November 3rd came and made Donald a lame
Duck he called out ‘FRAUD’!
By January 6th his followers came,
And left the Capitol mauled!

It’s against the law,
It was against the law,
What the People saw,
It was against the law!

Between the 3rd and the 6th Don’s minions went forth,
To ‘fix’ the results of the election!
The methods they used the Law says were worth,
A stay in a house of detention!

So, they're on their way,
Fani, Jack and Merrick Garland,
They’re on their way,
With witnesses to juries Grand!
Goodbye Donnie, the King of Indictments!
You see, We the People saw what you did to us!
We the People know what you did to us!

Don and his minions went on to scheme,
Of selecting fake electors!
The Feds found out and sent that dream,
Right to the prosecutors!

So, they’re on their way,
Don and his minions,
They’re on their way,
To doin’ time, we don’t know where!
Goodbye Donnie, the King of Indictments!
You see, your minions told what you did to us!
So, We the People know what you did to us!
Even duct tape can't fix stupid. But it can sure muffle the sound.

Defendant Donald may apply for separation of the cases, so he can throw his lawyers under the bus and claim he did it all under advice of Counsel.
He'll let RICO Rudy drown in his hair dye.

Has someone else suggested that tactic is the way he may go?

To my thinking, defendants turning on one another would seem to be almost always a boon to the prosecution.

Yes, heard it earlier today on one of the cable channels (MSNBC? CNN?) by one of the talking heads who used to be a US attorney. He said it is something he might do, but did not say if it was a good idea. They were spitballing potential defense strategies.

I remain pessimistic that he will ever see a day of jail time. But one can hope.

I do think that the likes of Giuliani, Powell, Eastman have a lot to be worried about.

There are consolation prizes, including the end of his political ambitions, the end of his financial empire, and enough utter and abject disgrace that he's broadly disowned by all but the most misanthropic of his supporters.

He's already publicly confessed he'd rather spend his days abroad, so I see his permanent expatriation as a possibility also.

As per a recent poll, his national favorable rating is 35%
And 53% back indictments.

What do you think the likelihood of a Mark Meadows flip is? About 65% (including the notion that he has already flipped, but it isn't public).

I feel like Mayor Giuliani has already passed the 40% mark and is rising.

Meadows has already flipped in the DC case, which is why he's not one of the unindicted co-conspirators. I imagine it won't take much in Georgia to flip him either. Once you've done it once, the second time is easier, I'd suspect.

Plus, if he flipped in DC, he's gonna give evidence against Trump in DC. That evidence will be admissible in Georgia, too. So if he hasn't yet flipped in Georgia, he might as well.

OE - assuming the DC evidence is relevant to the GA case.

The former president's press conference to present "CONCLUSIVE" evidence of election fraud, that would lead to "complete EXONERATION" has been cancelled.

Not postponed. Cancelled.

The former president also announces he will not be participating in the presidential debates, because something-something make America something again.

He says he will be counter programming the GOP debate by having an interview with Mother Tucker Carlson, scheduled at the same time as the debate.

He is chicken. He won't face hard questions he would get from at least two of the debate participants. And since he has no shame, I doubt he can be shamed into attending the debate.

How the hell does he have the GOP support that he has? The country's gone mad..Mad. Like Germany in the 1930s. 50 years after the death of this monster, he's still gonna have a huge number of fanatical followers.

know where to find a Tucker Carlson interview.

I’m finding I’m feeling particularly down on the state of this country that Trump is more likely to be re-elected than convicted.

We really need to fix how people get news in this country.

There's a lot of road ahead, and I'm aiming to fight the whole way. And hey, there's a non-zero chance that the former president gets disqualified from the ballot — including possibly the primary ballot in many states.

I see his core support becoming more entrenched, but I also see the fatigue his more mainstream supporters have been overcome by. Many of them are more scared of losing my respect than they are of Antifa and caravans from Mexico and wokiness coming and burning down their pool house.

I refuse to be optimistic, because optimism leads to complacency, but I refuse to be fatalistic either.

And while this belongs in the politics thread, while President Biden is a pretty terrible candidate, is there any reason why he shouldn't win by the same (or greater) margin than he won by in 2020?
