Williams missed too much time due to his military commitments. And he walked a heck of a lot. Still, with all that working against hm, he only missed by less than two seasons worth of hits. Rickey Henderson and Eddie Murray are good answers. Henderson also played for the Dodgers, so 3,000 hits in the LA box, too.

A rare immaculate for me.

I got my first eight guesses correct, but couldn't come up with an Oriole/Giant. I considered Casey Stengel, but went with Mike Cuellar. Both would have been wrong.

Orioles/Reds: Milt Pappas 3%
Orioles/Giants: --
Orioles/.300: George Sisler 19%
Astros/Reds: Joe Morgan 45%
Astros/Giants: JD Davis 4%
Astros/.300: Jose Altuve 95%
Padres/Reds: Randy Myers 3%
Padres/Giants: Kevin Mitchell 5%
Padres/.300 Tony Gwynn 96%

Orioles/Reds: Frank Robinson 45%
Orioles/Giants: Tom O'Malley 0.3%
Orioles/.300: George Sisler 20%
Astros/Reds: Cesar Cedeno 3%
Astros/Giants: Dave Bergman 0.1%
Astros/.300: Jose Altuve 92%
Padres/Reds: Mike Cameron 2%
Padres/Giants: Gaylord Perry 3%
Padres/.300: Tony Gwynn 95%

Helped again by being in the Bay Area in the '70's/early '80's so my Giant knowledge of that time is good.

The odds of me even thinking about Tom O'Malley period much less knowing that he was a Giant AND that he was an Oriole are actually less than zero.

And in case anyone is wondering if there's a minimum number of ABs needed for the career .300 BA, the answer is no. I went with John Paciorek (brother of brief '85 NYM Tom) who went 3-for-3 in his only ML game for the Astros career .300 hitter. It was accepted.

Same here. Eight out of nine. Can't believe that the Orioles/Giants cell stumped me being that both of those teams have been around for more than 100 years. Maybe somebody'll come to me later.

I completed the Mets column today: Twins (Tim Teufel), Pirates (Jon Niese) and Rays (Lucas Duda). I got Rick Aguilera for Cubs/Twins and Travis d'Arnaud for Rays/Braves. I then tried to play the LaTroy Hawkins card for Rays/Cubs and failed, so I gave up.

What's interesting here is I think I was the first one to play the game today! When I entered Jon Niese for Mets/Pirates, the number in the corner was 100%. I then refreshed the page and it went down to 50%. Refreshed again, 33%. Once more, 25%. Now it's down to a much more reasonable 0.8%.

Eight out of nine. Had no idea on the 40 save Clevelander. The first two columns are all one-time Mets, thanks to the Royals and Mariners card threads I recently posted.

Could have had another Met with Isringhausen as the StL 40 save guy.

Saturday is definitely the easy one. I got my first and only immaculate grid last week.

8 today. I forgot that Jeets was never named MVP.

Yeah, today is a good day to look beyond getting nine out of nine and aiming for a good rarity score. I got a 77 too.

Pulled an Immaculate 27 today:

Slugger/40+ Cecil Fielder 0.5%
Slugger/Col Dante Bichette 6%
Slugger/MVP Dale Murphy 0.9%
MFY/40+ Curtis Granderson 6%
MFY/Col Denny Neagle 2%
MFY/MVP Yogi Berra 7%
.300/40+ Willie Mays 3%
.300/Col Matt Holliday 2%
.300/MVP Ernie Banks 0.2%

First time I kept everyone under 10%.

I hadn't noticed previously that the Saturday puzzles were easier than the rest. But I agree - the only challenge for me was coming up with a COL/NYY guy.

I think it's harder to get a low rarity score on puzzle's like today's that are easier and full of statistical categories. The lowest rarity scores, I would think, come when all six categories are teams.

Fairly is the answer to a trivia question that came in handy on today's puzzle: the first player to have played for both Canadian teams.

I think that this is the first time that I played a National instead of an Expo.
